A few weekends ago we went to the pumpkin patch in Morton, IL. Morton has been named the Pumpkin Capital of the World and is home of the Libby canning factory, where they make all their canned pumpkin.
We didn't know it ahead of time, but when we arrived in Morton we realized that they were holding a Pumpkin Chuckin Contest right outside of town. We were really excited about this because we had seen one on tv before and thought it looked neat!
First we headed to the pumpkin patch. This was Maddie's first time at a pumpkin patch since they didn't grow pumpkins in FL, we just had to buy ours at the grocery store when we lived there.
Here are some pics from our visit to the pumpkin patch:

Excited about her find of a baby pumpkin!!:

helping Daddy with the wagon:

NOT happy because there was no longer room in the wagon for her:

Our pumkins:

After we picked our pumpkins we went back to pay, and I sat Maddie on the hay with some of the pumpkins that they had prepicked for people to purchase.
She didn't want to get up, she was loving it!

When we finally left the pumpkin patch we headed to see the Pumpkin Chuckin.
Here are a few from the Pumpkin Chuckin Competition. There were tons of people there and the participants had all sorts of different "machines" to shoot the pumkins. IT was really neat! Some of them could send the pumpkin REALLY far!!

see the smoke coming out~ This was right as it was shooting a pumpkin out.

catapult in action:

the small dot to the right of the slingshot is a pumpkin!

After they competed for distance, then they brought out a vehicle so that everyone could do shooting practice. The car was destroyed when they were finished!
This is the car that they were aiming at (white car in the bottom right of photo)

Thanks for viewing our Pumpkin Patch and Pumpkin Chuckin adventures!!!!
