Elkie Lee Taylor, will kill no more. He was executed in Texas last Thursday morning for the strangulation killing of a 65 year old man during a burglary of the man's house. The victim, Otis Flake, was reported by the Associated Press to have been bound at the hands and feet with coat hangers twisted around his neck.
Another victim of Taylor, an 87 year old man was killed in a similar fashion, AP reported. That killing occurred during a burglary also. Prosecutorial evidence showed Taylor had bragged to his friends about the killings saying "dead men can't talk".
Too bad for Taylor (and good for society) that he wasn't bright enough to figure out that his "friends' do talk, especially when murder is involved.
A lesson for older folks, women living alone, or anyone, is get a gun (legally), learn how to use it, keep it in a secure place (especially if there are children or pets in the house), and don't open your locked doors for just anybody. If someone is breaking in, have your gun ready, and be ready to use it. Real homeowner's insurance.
If this advice had been followed by the 2 victims mentioned here, they would still be alive, and the second wouldn't have been killed (by Taylor). Taylor would have had his execution while trying to kill his intended victim. Two lives, and a lot of trouble for the justice system, as well, would have been saved.
