As with each morning of late, I have met the day with feathered friends. I took a few shots, but today, only decided to share the tailfeathers of the bluejays. After coffee and little time to wind into the morning, it was off to my son's home to load up for a river cruise on his new/old boat.
Little disclaimer for vanity's sake: Being that we were on the water today, I used an older camera (one less scary to screw up).
Most of today's beauty for me was found while cruising the Savanah for a short span (short because the river was blocked going down stream for the regatta we host and up stream because of a rocky area); nevertheless, the weather was lovely (except at sundown it was a bit too chilly), the scenery divine, and the company was charming . . . all the makings for a great day.
Meet my son Daniel (the one sporting a Daniel Boone scruff) and my beautiful daughter-in-law to be, Jessica.

And here I am with Jessica.

I love how the blinding sun hides some lines . . . smile.

The cloudless, cerulean sky warmed my already toasty mood and the fall colors were still hanging in there for the ride.

Finally after soaking me, Kenny and Daniel decided to be kind and let us cruise rather smoothly for a bit.

As the sun dipped lower on the horizon, the colors on the moonside of the river became more vivid.

When the sun was dropping, I started being able to get some reflective shots, but the water was too choppy to make mirror images. Still, I like the colors painted on the river water in the next one, like an abstract of the trees above.

Fairly early in the afternoon, the moon came out to battle the sun. I would say as early as three or four. That doesn't happen very often that we can see, does it?

I took several of this beautiful old tree today. The colors were fantastic and all the moss hanging in the tree was neat looking too.

I wanted to stay until sunset. Always when I drive by at that time of day, I think, I wish I had my camera, so I was a little disappointed when the others wanted to leave (it was getting cold . . . wimps).
I almost caught it though . . .

I mean look how close I was to the glorious orange, but nooooooooooooooooo!
Even after Kenny about tipped me out of the boat and soaked me to my shoes, I was a trooper. Every last one of the others whined . . . and then I started thinking about all I had enjoyed, how pleasant everone was, and I decided to let them off the hook . . . I mean let's face it, a skinny girl like Jessie doesn't have so much insulation . . . and unfortunately, these days, I am well insulated.

Here's Daniel pulling the boat into dock for the day. I think he was secretly trying to get me my sunset because he was very slow about locking everything down . . . big teddy bear, that one.
So from the dock, I snapped.

Time to go.
Leaves were gathering by the dock a trees were reflecting in the river, so I like the next one.
I saw this on the way to the car and thought it would make a good perspective shot, and . . .

. . . across from the stairs I took a low perspective shot of fall leaves in ivy.

And then were off to take the kids home.
At home at Jesse's, there is a little sitting area in her back yard garden, and I thought it was very cozy looking. I wanted to curl up with a good book.

Then, walking back to the car, I took one final perspective shot of a lovely old tree in Jess's yard, and said a prayer that the kids would be rooted and grounded in the right things as they begin their lives together. I pray that I have done my job as a mom to ensure that.

I have been promised a sunset cruise soon to make up for not complaining (but don't tell . . . I think I did . . . shame on me). But doesn't anticipation make things so much sweeter. Besides, I love, love, loved today just as it was . . . except I miss my grandbaby and tomrrrow I am going out of town to a theater production in Atlanta, and I must wait for Monday. Again . . . anticipation will only make the visit sweeter.
I also can't wait to talk to you all again.
Goodnight Gatherers and Goodnight Moon.

Hope you enjoyed our little river cruise. Be blessed, my friends; we have a lovely world to enjoy!

And on this river boat they were not kissing
Probably because you were there wagging your finger
And telling them how your petticoat covered your ankles
Still the are pleasant shots, but I'd be careful of bluejays in the Spring. After mating they will dive bomb anyone.
It has finally turned COLD here in Michigan!! Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!! In the 30's.
You are so talented.
Thank you for sharing your cruise with us.
