This spring, remembering a school field trip we took when the daytripper diva and I

were in school, WAY back in the day, I decided to take my teenage twins to experience what we used to know as the Cheney-Cowles Museum. The museum has been greatly expanded with beautiful galleries for the exhibits, which leaves the permanent exhibit, The Campbell House, free to be a turn of the last century experience. Back in the day, all the exhibits were inside the Campbell House, but now it has been restored to the state it was when the Campbell family lived there, with many of their origianal furnishings. Now called the Northwest Museum of Art and Culture, the modern, adjacent facility hosts traveling exhibits as well as their permanent Spokane Exhibit. The day we visited, the Colt Firearm Collection was on display, which was a hit with my son. I thought at the time that my kids were "humoring" me by going with me to the museum, however, on a subsequent journey to the City of Spokane, about six months later, when they had friends in tow, they actually asked if they could go back and show the Campbell House to their friends. We had tickets to the Phantom of the Opera, and didn't have time to take the museum tour, too. However, I realized that even-though they seemed less than enthusiastic in the spring, a memory had been made and in the fall, they wished to share it with others. SUCCESS!!! The museum website, with scheduled exhibits and all the stuff you need to know is: http://www.northwestmuseum.org/northwestmuseum/
