Sarah Palin gave the McCain campaign a much needed CPR when they needed it the most. So why are they trashing her now?
Dial back Mid August. The McCain campaign was boring, the media was hardly talking about him, and the base was not about to come out and vote. Comes end of August after Obama picks Biden they go for the gender card. The calculus was obvious to any. Pick a woman and go after Hillary voters.
A woman, not any woman.
Obviously the McCain genius advisers did not know that. They went for a pro life, pro gun, who was on the record calling Hillary a whiner to pick up Hillary voters. Where did these people go to school?
Still, there was another rationale. Excite the base. And boy, did she deliver. Palin was an instant money magnet, drew big crowds, and the volunteers came out. She did what VPs do: be an attack dog, excite the base, and go to fundraisers. She survived the debate with winks, folksyness, not answering the questions by sticking to her memorized lines.
Of course she did not attract independents. Whose fault is that? Well genius, if you picked her to do that, you are to blame. Not her. That's McCain's job anyway. They were doing alright. She is not the one who said "the fundamental of the economy are strong." She did not call America a "nation of whiners."
Still, the same people who have been telling us that she was qualified for two months are now trashing her. We know those people are liars. They were lying about Obama for months. They conducted an agressive smear campaign and used Sarah Palin to deliver it. She did deliver that too. As I am convinced they are lying about Sarah, one can only feel bad for her.
Then you remember she used to carry water for them, delivering hate during her stumps. I still don't understand why they are doing it. It makes McCain look bad. His pick was a dope his advisers say. It certainly does not rise Palin's stock. It's not good for the GOP. Palin was going to be one of their money gals in 2010 elections.
What goes around comes around.

McCain was the best shot the Republicans had to retain the presidency but he couldn't buy the votes with the Democrat Control Speech, whether he chose, or Palin was forced on him, I think she was the breath of fresh air to his campaign.
She was the conservative that the Republicans wanted, but she was VP, maybe if she was presidential candidate she would have done better.
But of course people always want to have a scape goat, and I'm sure McCain wanted her to be the scape goat no matter what. when in reality he couldn't deliver.

Is it such a trivial pastime. Boring.
