TAKE BACK SARAH PALIN'S WARDROBE AND HER COLLEGE DEGREE TOO

November 07, 2008 06:40 PM EST (Updated: November 07, 2008 06:52 PM EST)
So Sarah Palin's Republican handlers are now pissed as he*l that Sarah has made off back to Alaska with some items from that $150,000 wardrobe, in addition to another $20,000 to $30,000 that her personal aides spent on her "accessories".

The Republican team that failed to adequately vet the person they tossed on to the national stage as McCain's running mate, has now dispatced a GOP lawyer to Alaska to inventory the items that Sarah probably felt were her booty, her payment, for having to put up with the questions from that nasty Katie Couric, and having to stand next to that geezer John McCain, a guy old enough to be her grandfather. What's a girl to do?

Evidently Sarah took g.w. bushies 911 directive to heart when he told us all to just "go shopping" and that will heal all the wounds suffered by the country on that day. She is a known "shopaholic" and clearly reveled in the opportunity the Republican party gave her of putting her primary skills to use, that of shopping and then displaying her purchases for all the world to see. (A slide show is available on the Huffington Post of Sarah wearing $2,500 Valentino jackets and other sundry items that Joe the Plumbers wife would never be able to afford.)

But I don't think the clothes are the only thing that should be taken back from Sarah Palin. Presumably this woman graduated from High School and then went on to get a college degree - from where, I'm not exactly sure. But I  would venture that Sarah, under bush's "No Child Left Behind" policy, was indeed one of those kids that was "left behind" or the schools that she graduated from MUST have been on the list of "under achieving" and therefore slated for closure or take over by another school district.

Any kid who graduates from High School and does not know that Africa is a continent, not a country has really missed the boat. This is 3rd grade geography. Then compound that with her lack of even the basics of governmental policy over the past 10 years, like who are the countries covered under NAFTA? (one being the country she was supposedly in line to head) And it's not like there was a long list after that - try Canada and Mexico and that's about it.

So peel away the ability to put on a Valentino jacket and look good, there wasn't much else to Sarah Palin except a dumb hick from Wasilla with some scary notions about what a "real American" should be.

All those folks falling over themselves to defend Sarah, really ought to get their sense of priorities adjusted. The country is breathing one giant sign of relief that she is back in Alaska, where every good moose hunter belongs.

Jim, it was #2. McCain was all set to name Joe Lieberman as his running mate and really play the "maverick" thing to the hilt. But the Dobsons and their "Focus on the Family" empire now own the GOP lock, stock, and barrel, and they asserted their royal prerogative and dubbed Palin - who somebody else here on Gather called the poster child of the religious right - the VP. McCain wasn't asked, he wasn't consulted, he was told. And an awful lot of long-time Republican stalwarts have been bailing out of the party ever since.

Let her keep the clothes and make her sign a statement that she will never enter another national race.

Marilyn, honey, if the Republicans and the Right-to-Life movement can't do better than her, it's time to go back to the drawing board and start over again.

Now, all Real Americans know that Real Americans don't know jack about Geography so her thinking that Africa's a country just goes to show that she's a Real American. I happenned to have met the former King of Africa and he says that if I pay to bring the princess over from Republic of Africa she will bring the family fortune with her and I will get to marry her. I guess that makes me a nubian prince now don't it?

Or are you people so full of hatred you can't let go.

This post is sick. Cynthia, you were one of the first people to attack Bristol Palin. Aren't you ashamed of yourself?

I don't want to pick on poor Sarah Palin anymore until she comes back to the lower 48 in 2012 to give it another shot.
But if she tries that, we all need to just shake our heads. Republicans, do not be so hung up on name recognition. You could do better than her, you really could.

Who could think that Palin could or should run this country or any other country.
She has her hands full with the big state of Alaska.
But if the GOP feels that she is the best that they have to offer than another 4 years of Obama will be fine with me.

Jim, I'm wondering if a new third party will rise up, founded by disgruntled Republicans. Because I think one of the things that's happening is the more moderate, fiscal conservative and business-oriented Republicans are abandoning the GOP to the rabid fundamentalist rug chewers. It's a sad fate for the Party of Lincoln, but I really do think the true heirs to Father Abraham are heading out to create something new. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Republicannibalism at it's best! The great GOP Blame Game: Et tu, Palin? Poor McCain he got a stiletto heel in the back. She was supposed to field dress a donkey and ending up fleecing an elephant. Ha ha. I hope she hides her wardrobe over at Sen. Steven's house. He's used to "storing" unrequested items and not disclosing them. Good company in sour times for MsPalinthropy.

More on you female Republican's cries of sexism...

If John McCain, or his handlers, had not been the craven, callous asshol'es that they were in picking Palin, but instead chose a Republican woman with some brains (instead of perky boobs) like Elizabeth Dole, or Susan Collins from Maine, and I'm sure if they dug around enough in the party they could have come up with more truly qualified woman than I - you can bet your bippy I would not be writing these snide (but true) posts.

And if John McCain had been strong enough to not listen to his handlers or the far right wing nut cakes who picked Palin, and ran a campaign like he ran against bush the last time around, he just might have been elected YOUR president Elizabeth and Mary Ann - think on that for a moment.

I dont' know how to completely explain my feelings on Sarah Palin. Sadly, she's a sound bite at best. She didn't ask for this, I give her that. But to me? A true Woman, one who should even be slightly considered for VP (and possible presidency), well for one, she must pass an enormous test, IQ wouldn't be a bad idea though they hold little water, and even then, because of the state of her family, a teenage mom (sorry, but stats prove girls who get pregnant in their teens do so because their mother wasn't around and they want someone to love and to love them) sorry, sad but true. And IF Miss Palin would have said thank you, but no thank you, not at this time, my Family needs me here, but Later. THEN, she would have had my respect and chance at ever having my vote, she blew all chances of that for me, forever. So one vote, but I have a big voice. She needs to fade into oblivion like those that came before her, and move on to important things, like rebudgeting our budget, getting rid of crap lobbyist BS.... spending 800 Million to see how people feel about cars. ????Your spending 800Mill to make sure people are happy about the cars they are driving?? And people in OUR Country are still waiting for help in Louisiana where Katrina is still doing it's damage. THE Billions we're spending on this illegal war that has got to stop! And Now! And the current Admin still needs to be brought up on charges of High Crimes and Misdemeanors, Crimes Against Humanity, etc, etc, etc.

Palin had a nice little life, she deserves to go back to it, and go once again back to hunting from Helicopter, shooting wildlife by air.... nothing like killin something, innocent beautiful and free. Yup. Hunting. What? They give the wildlife gunfire now days? Well good for them. Look, she's a mess, just kick her to the curb and move on. As I can now do now. That I vented.

Mariana, I have a feeling the folks at Comedy Central, are not gonna let the Palin stories die for a long, long time. She has been a media gold mine. The Republican lawyers are not the only ones following her back to Alaska, she is going to remain the laughing stock for the folks at SNL and Dave Letterman, for the next 4 years. We all need a side show to distract us while Obama is trying to save the country from total ruin..

That Africa is a country comment was taken out of context. Anyways, it's her own people doing it to her. She was doing the same thing on the stump on a daily basis. The people trashing her were feeding her garbage on a daily basis and she was glad to repeat them. Now they will scape goat her. Those folks are liars. They lied about Obama during the campaign and they are lying about Palin now. But don't tell me not to believe them now.

I voted for the democrats because of Palin, not entirely, but I would say 80% of my decision was based on her presence on the ticket. Conservative, yes, I am all for voting for conservatives, real ones, educated ones. Not one favoring populism and talking as if education was for the elite.

If Sarah Palin is the future of the GOP, split the party in half right now. A Palin on top the ticket cannot win.

Elizabeth, isn't this a bit hypocritical? I refer to your article on Obama winning the election: "I am also disgusted that the media put a liar in the White House. We will never hear the truth from this man...when his lips move, he is lying(typical lawyer). He is not MY President and he never will be MY President. I feel that it is my not only my patriotic duty NOT TO SUPPORT HIM, but it is my duty as an American to NOT SUPPORT HIM. I have also decided NOT TO WATCH NBC and CNN. Thank God, we live in country where we can say what we feel. I am glad this thing is over, but disappointed in most of the citizens of this country(who have their heads in their bums) that voted for Obama."

Sounds a bit like bashing to me. Also, it doesn't seem to reflect the "class" that you say you have.

Palin didn't do her folksy, suggestive gesture act when running for Gov. This was a new thing she put on for the McCain campaign. Just look up youtube videos of old footage and you'll see that this was all an act. "Bridge to no underwear" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yPE6_jGBlDc does a pretty good job, illustrating how she tried to motivate her base. What I thought was tragic was when McCain tried to regain some semblance of dignity at his concession speech and the crowd booed and chanted their canned cheers. As McCain tried futilely to turn the hate machine off, Palin stood by his side and smiled. Yes, Palin liked her role. Palin in 2012 is what she said on the trail before the election was over, and "Et tu, Palin?" is all McCain has left to say.

Jeni e... now that was sweet, but it was also what I think Elizabeth and her ilk would Definitely call "SEXIST". I beg to differ. Compared to bush if Obama had not appeared on the horizon, I would have been completely satisfied with Hillary Clinton as president. That is one smart, courageous, strong gal. Unfortunately we needed EVEN MORE than what she had to offer this time around.

bush and his robocons have so totally disenfranchised this nation we needed something COMPLETELY different from our past. And unfortunately that wasn't Hillary. She was a Clinton and she was part of our past. We needed renewal. Obama is renewal.

Patricia, so it WAS God who saved us from McCain/Palin and not the millions of people who actually voted... Now THAT's an interesting concept that has absolutely NO PLACE in a democracy...

I've tried and tried but I just can't feel sorry for Sarah Palin. Until Tuesday she had never lost a single thing she went after so I'm sure it was a real shock for her to find out she doesn't appeal to the majority of Americans. But she did get a lot of nice perks, she saw to that.

And now she can go home and plot and plan how she is going to try to stuff herself down the throat of the USA even if we choke on her. With her kind of honesty and the Republican right wing machine she might just make it. Unless of course, the Democrats get busy and fix campaign financing better than McCain did, and rein in soft money, and do such a great job that Obama is begged to take another turn. I think that might happen and after him there will be more up and coming new Democrats who can bring the country together and enlighten the world to peace and equality for all. She's had her chance and blew it out her mouth.

And she didn't bond with that baby because she went back to work in 3 days, what do you expect from her? Sadly, she is her own worst publicity.

Jeff H: "Ah yes......the election is over and Obama won but hatred still is more attractive than happiness. The main stream media did a story about your kind.......

http://www.theonion.com/content/video/obama_win_causes_obsessive

That was an excellent hack, Jeff. But most of the wingnuts here will simply not realize you have made a link (which I've HTMLed for you--ask some of your high school classmates how to make a web link--its easy) to a satirical newspaper!

And here's my favorite Onion headline:

Bush: 'Our Long National Nightmare Of Peace And Prosperity Is Finally Over'

On January 17, 2001, just before assuming the presidency, President-elect Bush vowed that "together, we can put the triumphs of the recent past behind us."

It was, in my opinion, his greatest speech ever, and also the greatest speech he will ever make, when he makes his greatest speech, which has now happened.

Patricia,

Mary Ann here seems to be one of those folks that you are referring to. She thinks that by ignoring reality, what she says will be the truth. The fires of hell could be sending her up in smoke during another bush administration and she would claim that all was OK in her world.

I'm with Roy. I think the repubs will "lose" the overly-righteous-right-religious-wingnuts" and attempt to return to their previous policies. Not that I agreed with them either. I can see a division happening even now. Blunt signed off. So many repubs have moved to the dem or indie parties thru this last election. I believe the fundies will build their own party...based solely on fundi--mental religion. That, to me, is far more skeery than anything Palin did during the stump.

Sorry, but if the repubs split from the fundies and the fundies ever win, we'll be in the same basket as all the other fanatic-religious zealot countries in the world. (OR continents...) Cynthia, Palin is no-news. I am so glad she's not on the radar, she can KEEP the darned clothes, and wear them in good health.
We've got a lot of serious work to do.

Did you catch the O'Man!'s press release? It was great. He isn't waiting for Dubya to step down, but he's being very polite about it, I think. Let us move onward and upward, and ignore the smoke from the bus on the right. They'll fix their straight talk express, or come up with some better actors.

Blessings Cyn,
Wilka

I am very sceptical of all the Bush-worshipping cultists who are now concerned abut "sexism" in the public conversation about Sarah palin.

Many of these same ditto-heads joined Republicans in eight years of bashing Hillary Clinton for any real or imagined failing they could invent.

Their defense was always, political figures should expect to be scrutinized and criticized.

Glad Richard got schooled here about the reference to The ONION..........wonder if he also believes The Colbert Report leans to the right.
Anyone think that O'Reilly, Hannity or Limbaugh will suddenly morph into sane rational human beings just because the election is over?
Perhaps FOX MIGHT decide to add to the number of minorities that suddenly were so evident ONLY in the past year. Pity those that believed they would be a 'factor' in swinging votes away from Obama. They can now join Greta, Grace and Hemmer as one trick ponies searching trash cans for news about missing white woman and OJ Simpson.
Lets not forget where Dennis Miller IS now in relation to where Bill Mahr is...............smooth move there Miller!

Mariana, Good point, and if we could get the results of the IQ's of all voters, I'm sure the Obama folks would stand head and shoulders above Joe the Plumber...(I mean THE Joe used by the McCain campaign,) not to disparage all plumbers, most plumbers are pretty smart, just THIS UNLICENSED, welfare queen (he was on welfare and so were his parents) plumber - his brain power epitomizes the average wing nut who now seems to continue the support of the republican party.

Obama has full endorsement from the League of Conservation Voters, Greenpeace, and all the tree hugging, rock kissing environmental groups in the US and abroad. Do your research before you start your whine-y fussin'.

McCain had a big zero "0" from any and all environmental groups. Oh, is there a group called Redpeace?

The venom here is disgusting and overly sexist. Once again you peaceful Obama fans atack anything you do not agree with. Should Obama give back his law degree and be disbarred because he said he visited ll 57 states? Is America a counrty of a continent? Afirica is a continent and also part of the name of a country, just like "America." Attacking Palin or anyone else a tthis level is ridiculous. Have you researched anyone other candidate's expenses on clothing? How about food choices, maybe we should add in cigarettes for Obama, were those paid for by the little people that sent in five and ten dollars? Your petty attacks make you and other Obama supporters look foolish and small.

Linda: Obama told the Chicago Tribune in December 2005 that his smoking is "an ongoing battle," and his cigarette use was, in fact, known during his 2004 Senate campaign, when his wife told the Chicago Sun-Times that he smokes "about three Marlboros a day."

So big deal. Buying a pack of cigarettes a week is nothing compared to buying $190,000 worth of clothing including silk boxer shorts for Todd. Cigarettes is petty, close to $200,000 for clothing is not.

Wilka, Thanks for that defense, also Barack has to balance what a total collapse of the auto industry means at this point in time for cities like Detroit when it comes to jobs, families and keeping folks employed. I would hope that any "bailout" of the auto industry would include requirements to build the kind of fuel efficient cars we REALLY need in this country.

Linda, you are sadly afflicted with the same disease that seems to have taken over the brain of Mary Ann. What you are saying doesn't make any sense. You are stringing words together but you fail to create meaning. This is unfortunately what we have been forced to listen to from the mouth of bush for the past 8 years, then Palin, then Joe the Plumber...

I would suggest you take a course in basic, English Lit 101, or maybe sit in on a local High School English program in your town. You really need help in learning how to express your thoughts.

Cynthia, why not electrical cars...good idea, then we will have to open up another 1000 coal mines to plug that battery every night, oops correction THOSE car batteries because, what there are how many batteries in an electric car...a full trunk? And after its use, you know what's up with a re-chargeable battery, a big mountain in a poor "country, such as Africa", as one of your great future pres. (2012) referred. Possibly to sell those batteries to make a new possiblities, a new kind of dump, next to the old computer dump...creating jobs for the car industry.

Wila,

ya Green Peace is right behind the car industry to support american employment-american jobs, because if its good for the ecconomy it good for the american guy. Ya with a job, he will be able to afford a reusable sack to do all his shopping.

So Cheetch, I suppose you think it's back to the jungle - that MUST be the solution to all our problems.

Now if I was in a position power, I suppose that EVERYONE must live just like me. 1. I never owned a car, so no one should be allowed to own a car. 2. I don't have a drivers license 3. I depend upon my feet, public transportation and taxis. 4. I travel a lot but depend upon said feet, taxis, planes, trains and buses.

This works for me. I think this would be the best way for everyone to solve multiple crisis - obesity being one of them, If you have to walk a lot, obesity is not an option, think of the smaller carbon foot print, etc. etc...but that's just me...

Cheech, dude, go back and read my comment. You mis-read it. I said the environmentalist groups backed Obama. NOT the car industry. Obama is planning to build factorys that can crank out fuel efficient cars--not necessarily battery powered. And have you been keeping up? It is now possible to recharge the battery while the car is moving along the highways and byways of the planet. Self charging.

Ya with a job...what exactly are you talking about? McCain? He can retire.
Obama has a job. He has to undo about 8 years of stupid. 8 years of bad management, 8 years of fiscal responsibility. He'll be one busy guy!~

Oh, Cheetch, give me a break...platitudes have no place in politics or life. Besides what represents someone who is "down?" I'd say someone who lost their family, their home, and their livelihood because they lived in the 9th ward of New Orleans is someone who is "down". A retiree who has lost his or her entire pension and life savings because of the corrupt Ken Lay and his cronies at ENRON is someone who is "down". These are folks not to be "kicked". But it's the bush policies for the past 8 years, and the Sarah Palin attitude and beliefs that would have continued to "kick" these folks when they were down.

So as far as having any sympathy at all for Sarah Palin... YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING!!!! we have to do whatever we can to reveal to the world EXACTLY who this person is, what kind of charchacter she has, so we never see her on the national stage again.

Sarah made a fundemental mistake in accepting the position. If she would have said, "John, I'm not ready to be President. Appreciate the thought but the best interests of the country are not served if you should die in office, you betcha."

If she would have waited and obtained the mininum education, like when, if and how her running mate ever voted for market regulation or the geographic nature of Africa or any of a zillion things marginally necessary for national office and then attached herself to the extreme religious wing of the party she may have a credible chance among the moronic portion of the nation, i.e. Republicans. However I seriously doubt that celebrations would erupt across the planet like they did for Obama.

Sam C...Sarah is like one of those little kids they do psychological testing on to see if they have the maturity to resist the temptation of immediate gratification or if they immediately gobble up the candy as soon as the Psychologist leaves the room. Palin is one of those immature kids who need immediate gratification and do not have the capacity to plan ahead.

Not a good quality in a leader.
