Well everyone, the bewitching season has past, the leaves of a lot of the trees here in Southern Ohio have faded to drab brown and the nights are getting colder. As I type this it is a typical rainy-grey November day.
First I have to thank everyone who participated in the contest. Pumpkin carving is a family tradition for me, as it is I am sure for many of you. Or maybe this contest sparked a tradition for you, for the first time. I just want you all to know I had a lot of fun viewing your creations and it was very hard for me to pick the winners.

Without Further blabbering on my part let me announce the winners :)
For the Adults:
Please congratulate Tom M, for his very creative design, Elle the Elephant. I just love the whimsicle design of the elephant, and the amount of time that goes into creating a design, where you essentially "skin" the pumpkin" is longer than you would imagine (I just skinned the teeth of one of my pumpkins and it nearly took me an hour , and I have a bruised finger to show for it haha). The pumpkin-in-pumpkin design is also hard to do, beacuse you have to find pumpkins that 'nest' well within each other and plan your designs to go together, rather than compete with each other. Bravo Tom :)

For the Children
I was simply amazed by the amount of creativity these young artists have! You kids made it tougher on me than I expected. Even though only one kid will get a big prize, second and third place will also recieve a ribbon for their designs.
in Third Place: Drea's Pumpkin Max Drea is the Grand daughter of April H and was very creative with her pumpkin. I'm really happy that she participated and had so much fun!
in Second Place: Elliot's Pumpkin Pump-puh. Elliot is the son of Brittney R. and is quite the young artist! I'm really glad this was a fun and educational project for Elliot.
and in First Place: Jordyn's Pumpkin Mr. Jordyn Jordyn is the grandson of Brenda H and is a budding photographer. Jordyn you had me so impressed with your noodle hair that I had to show your pumpkin to several of my friends and family. You're a great photographer too and an artist to boot!

And that concludes this year's Jack-o-Lantern Carving Contest, from Fairs & Festivals. Thanks goes out to the whole group for sharing ALL your photos, videos and articles from all the fairs and festivals you visit! Remember, any holiday can become a festival with a bit of creativity and most of all FUN!

I did not get my entries in in time. I have been mia for a few days. I am currently working on my carving photo essay now.
Jordyn is going to be so thrilled. BTW, he loves ramen noodles. I was looking through the cupboards for pasta or cereal he could glue on to his pumpkin, when he spotted the noodles. I didn't have any yarn for hair so he wanted to use the noodles.
I loved Tom and Jordyns designs well deserved wins!!
