I am highly upset this morning. I moderate my groups for a reason. It is so members stick to the theme. I understand how one or two pieces of content can easily be added by mistake. But when 187 pictures that has nothing to do with a theme is submitted. Well, that is just plain rude. That takes to much time away from others things that I could be doing. I had to delete them all. For now on if anyone sumbits a large amount of content to any of my theme groups that don't go with it. I am not going to say anything. I am going to just boot you out. As it seems to be the same people doing this over and over. This is your only warning! I hate to be this way but I have been left with no other choice.

Hopefully when Gather provides us the ability to 'group' our groups into publishing categories this problem will be minimized...of course, it could also just make things worse.

I do try to make sure I post to the appropriate groups at all times, but sometimes I wonder.......

I think that option would help improve groups. We can also weed out members who post everything to all groups. That is what I am doing now. I hate to do that. But it seems certain people do it over and over again. Not just once which may have been a fluke.

I feel your pain! I wrote the article When You Submit Articles To Groups
on 5 October 2008. I even spotlighted it in two of my groups. I am still having the same problems. Especially in All About Film, Movies And Actors.
There are two people, one submits off topic jokes and the other submits off topic images (sometimes on topic, mainly off topic). I was told in a comment on my article that these people do it to get more points. If that is so what they fail to realize is (1.) I now just look at the description, title and image and if it looks off topic I just delete it. So I do not give it a page view and no one else in that group does either, hence no points. And (2.) the time the moderators take to delete off topic things could be used to read or look at their submissions, appreciate them, leave a nice comment and possibly rate them a ten. So instead of pissing us off, they are making us happy and we are making them happy. So being considerate has its rewards.

I am sorry but 187 from one is not an over site in my opinion. They had everything combined in one album and sent it to several of my moderate theme groups. I am not sure how many I allowed past. But I did delete 187 of them.
