Obama's "... thuggish, ghetto, welfare mentality..."

 

It's only been 72 hrs. and I'm already sick of the idiotic insults and whining from the right.  Limbaugh must have used the term "thug" 5 times an hour today, in reference to President-elect Obama, and his choice of Chief-of-Staff, Rahm Emanuel.  

Posts here on gather are filled with comments using those three words by conservatives who refuse to accept the fact that President-elect Obama won, and yes I'll say it, by a LANDSIDE!  They insist he has no mandate (yeah - right! LOL) And continue to try and paint President-elect Obama as a dangerous thug, who will bring in an era of welfare not seen since....well, ever! They imply he will "paint the white house black" and bring in all his hip-hoppity "ghetto" terrorist friends over for bomb making parties. 

I listened to something called "Savage Nation" today, which I found very appropriately named; and callers, real people, called in to voice their opinion of how dangerous President-elect Obama is. I watched a nano-second of Hannity (before my eyes started burning, I had to defecate, and started getting nauseous)

I was actually listening to the racist, socially awkward people that forward/create those viral emails we've been deleting for the past 2 yrs.  Their painful lack of self-esteem is palpable.  It's obvious they lack any sense of self-worth; and the thought of a "black" President frightens and threatens them, fueling their sense of  inferiority and self loathing  You can hear it in their voices.  I've read it in the emails (between the lines).

Actual real Americans, who have lived through the same past 8 years we all did - speak as if the country will nose dive into financial chaos (DUDES - WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN LATLEY? WE'RE ALREADY THERE!); A terroristic, sky is falling era because we were "fooled" into voting for (let's see how many lies, distortions, and untruths I can think of off the cuff):a radical, menacing, socialist-commie, separatist, foreign born, Madrassa attending, super secret sleeper cell member, potential terrorist, ghetto living, welfare granting, Quaran reading Muslim, anti-American, infant killing, anti-soldier, flag of surrender waving, foreign policy lacking, scandal ridden, land dealing, lying, afro-centric leaning, ethically challenged, legislatively challenged, faux African-American, "half-rican", Ahmadinejad meeting, Jew-hating, traitorous, anti-patriotic, non-flag pin wearing, community organizer!  Eek gads, grab your babies and run for the hills!

So we know there are racist losers living amongst us, the ones that for the past 8 years howled and screamed that "liberals" weren't showing President Bush the deserving respect for the office he holds, (whether we liked or agreed with him or not) are doing exactly what they accused liberals of. The difference being, they are more hateful, dishonest and downright loathsome in their rhetoric.  It's hard to believe that so many ignorant, uneducated racists are still out there. But - the majority of American's showed that we as a nation have matured and moved on. We didn't (and don't) care about the lies and innuendos; the rumors and guilt by association asinine political strategies and voted for our own best interests on Nov. 4th (finally).

Which brings me back to my point, let's look at the truly mean and nasty "... thuggish, ghetto, welfare mentality..." politician(s) who were recently running for the highest offices in the land. (Hint - it wasn't Obama/Biden) Just think where we'd be headed if the other ticket had won?!?! So - I've compiled some examples of truly, "... thuggish, ghetto, welfare mentality..." behavior.
 
THUGGISH:  McCain: "In a front page article, The Arizona Republic (newspaper) wanted the nation to know about the "volcanic" temper McCain has unleashed on several top state officials. "...Those on the receiving end of a McCain uproar include Republican Gov. Jane Hull, former Republican Gov. Rose Mofford and former Democratic Mayor Paul Johnson of Phoenix."

But the Arizona Republic, which endorsed McCain for each of his five congressional races declared in an editorial: "...If McCain is truly a serious contender for the presidency, it is time the rest of the nation learned about the John McCain we know in Arizona. There is also reason to seriously question whether he has the temperament and the political approach and skills, we want in the next president of the United States."  And when did this Arizona newspaper warn us of McCain's nasty side? Sunday, Oct. 31, 1999

And regarding Sarah Palin, there is so much available material, it would take me days to try and summarize the thousands of articles about her.

THUG & GHETTO:  "...people who know her say she refers regularly to Alaska's Aboriginal people as "Arctic Arabs" - how efficient, lumping two apparently undesirable groups into one ugly description - as well as ,,, the totally unimaginative "f**king Eskimo's," according to a number of Alaskans and Wasillians interviewed...being openly racist is only the tip of the Palin iceberg.,,, she is also vindictive and mean. We're talking Rove mean and Nixon vindictive. So much for McCain's pledge of a "high road" campaign; Palin is incapable of being part of one."

THUG: The article continues: "Tough Getting People Who Know Her to Talk" ..."It's not easy getting people to speak critically about Palin - especially people in Wasilla,,,, many people in Alaska, and particularly Wasilla, are reluctant to speak or be quoted by name because they're afraid of her..."

 

MEAN, NASTY THUG:..."(as Mayor of Wasilla) she got herself into trouble over a number of precipitous firings which gave rise to a recall campaign...People who fought her attempt to oust the librarian are on her enemies list to this day"..."She doesn't like different opinions and she refuses to compromise..."

 

WELFARE (for the rich) THUG MENTALITY: ",,,Her tax policies (as mayor) was "refund surpluses but borrow for the future" attitude.,,, Palin reduced progressive property taxes for businesses and increased a regressive sales tax which even hits necessities such as food. The tax cuts she promoted in her St. Paul speech actually benefited large corporate property owners far more than they benefited residents.... many Wasilla home owners saw their property taxes on modest, three bedroom homes...skyrocket to make up for the shortfall... dramatically,,," 

 

WELFARE MENTALITY - Palin took "...an oil-rich town with zero debt the day she was inaugurated and left it saddled with $22 million of debt by the time she become governor"...nothing was spent on things such as improving the city's infrastructure or building a much-needed sewage treatment plant."

GHETTO - "...what did Mayor Palin spend it on? ...she remodeled her office. Several times over",,,"she spent $1 million on an unnecessary, new park that no one other than the contractors and Palin seemed to want... she doled out more than $15 million of taxpayer money for a sports complex ... even though the city did not own clear title to the land; seven years later, the matter is still in litigation and lawyer fees are said to be close to at least half of the original estimated price of the facility."

WELFARE (her own) - "En route to governor...Palin (landed) a plumb political appointment: Chair of Alaska's Oil and Gas Conservation Commission (OGCC), a $122,400 per year patronage slot with no real authority to do anything other than hold meetings."  "She took the job despite having no background in energy issues and not liking the work." PRIME JOB FOR A GHETTO WELFARE MENATALITY THUG

 

OPPORTUNISTIC THUG - "...as a Republican Party hack Palin managed to get herself elected...(with) no legislative experience other than a city council of a village of 5,000 people...Little hands-on supervisory or managerial experience...she needed to hire a city administrator to run Wasilla. No executive experience, except for almost being recalled as mayor...."

PALIN'S WELFARE WAYS DESERVE THEIR OWN CATEGORY:

From the AP piece (Oct. 2008) "...Palin... is always on the lookout for a freebie, even if it means playing it fast and loose with the law."  We're finding more "...reports of Palin's misspending government funds for personal financial benefit... Palin charged taxpayers over $20,000 to pay for daughters to travel with her to events which they were not invited - 64 one-way and 12 round-trip tickets, as well as their own expensive hotel rooms." reports "have estimated Palin charged taxpayers more than $43,000 in travel expenses for family members." WELFARE

 

"...Palin lied on official reimbursement forms, saying the girls were invited when, according to organizers of the events, they were not.... then after she was tapped as Sen. John McCain's running mate, Palin went back and amended the expense reports...to make the travel sound like official business, as necessary for reimbursement under Alaska state law...on top of being a freeloader at taxpayer expense, she altered financial documents to misrepresent unjustified personal expenses paid for by "average Joes."  WELFARE THIEF

It's not an isolated event: "...for Palin, it comes on the heels of reports of other questionable "write offs," adding up to what appears to be a pattern of abuse. In short...Palin is not the self-reliant opponent of government spending that she claims to be.  She's more like the welfare queen from Wasilla." Need I cover "Wardrobe Gate"? We're learning even more by the hour that there was actually tens of thousands of dollars more spent on Palin's and the "first dude's" wardrobe than originally divulged.

 

I'll stop here, and hope those of you who will take issue with this posting will go back and read some of my other posts. I am a partisan liberal, and I've been guilty of saying and writing things that I'd consider disrespectful, and I will probably do it again (but I truly hope I won't have reason to).

 

But I respect conservatives and all points of views; I know there are true conservatives who love America as much as I do.  I may not agree with their ideology, but I respect it when practiced with integrity and respect for other opinions and other "people". I truly hope the GOP can pull itself together and address the issues that are important FOR their constituents, not TO their constituents.  We, as a people, take our lead on social and cultural issues from our leaders. 

 

If the GOP continues to practice the politics of division, denigrate, disrespect, focus on wedge issues that are meaningless to our everyday lives, (but should be accepted as personal choices in the privacy of our homes) and cater to the lowest and most mediocre, "base" est amongst their party; they will never move forward, and their party will continue to whither.  The GOP needs to focus on the dreadful state of our economy; develop a more modern foreign policy, and retool ways of using their conservative principals to address the issues that matter; and will make Americans lives better.  Not social wedge issues. 

 

America has moved on - hate is so 20^th century. We've entered the century of hope, promise, expanded opportunities, respect and acceptance of all Americans.

 

It's time for our leaders to lead by example, and work together to set an agenda for America's future.  Give President-elect Obama and Vice President Biden the respect they deserve. They won; it wasn't a slim Supreme Court victory.  It was a trouncing.  Give them a chance to fail or succeed on their own. It's the easiest and truly American thing we can do.
