The Rite-Aid Drug Store about 1/2 a mile from my house is built on the location of the Battle of Kolb's Farm, which took place June 22, 1864, with Sherman's troops facing General Joseph Johnston's Confederates. Sherman had twice as many troops as Johnston, and in the fighting, the Union lost 350 men, while the Confederates lost 1,000. Cannon were located at the top of the hill which borders the present road, between the parking lot and the road. Two employees of the store have now told me very similar stories. The first employee was actually working there when it was still an Eckerd's, and today, a young man who works there told me basically the same exact thing.
He said that he's been working in the store for about two years now, and they have many strange little things happen all the time. He said that often they hear what sounds like people whispering in the back room which is used for storage, and that his manager has told him that when she closes the back door at night, she often hears whispering right outside the door, and it sounds to her like soldiers planning a battle.
He went on to say that one night, they had just finished checking the store and making sure that everything was neatly lined up on the shelf, and everyone had gone but him. He went into the back room to do a last minute check, when suddenly he heard the noise of something falling in the store. He rushed out to see what was going on, and a can of food and a pack of light bulbs were lying on the floor. But the light bulbs had not fallen from the front of the shelf; they had fallen from the middle of the shelf, and had left a nice hole in the merchandise right where they had been. His first thought was that maybe someone had taken the light bulbs off the shelf and set them somewhere else, and they had fallen, but they had just finished checking all the shelves.
I am going to go up there tomorrow or Saturday and talk to the manager and get more detail about her experiences.
Strange things happen around my house, too. Of course, the fighting went on all over this area and all through the woods that used to be here. I used to wonder what could possibly cause a spirit to be in this house, but of course, the land is haunted all over the South.

Jean, I am going to ask the manager if she thinks Ghost Hounds might could do an investigation.
Our house is haunted or the land is, but I know spirits are here and they are not harmful at all. When we go to bed, we sometimes feel something hit our feet and it isn't our dog and it isn't the comforter getting too tight, it doesn't reach the floor. lol
Good Luck with talking to the mgr. Tell us the rest when you find out.
