It would never, ever cross my mind to let my boys within a country mile of fully automatic weapons. There is no reason for a child to be near them, but please do not confuse them with semi-automatic guns.
Semi-automatic guns are not what most people think. They are not machine guns and are the typical gun used by your average Joe or Jane for hunting duck, geese and upland birds.
Another inaccurate piece of information was in the letter titled, “When will the automatic weapons be banned?,” published Nov. 1. The writer states that 24 out of 25 home defenses are unsuccessful. This is false. This is one of those statistics that was fabricated by the left of our party to scare people away from guns.
Please do research about guns before spouting off statistics that are incorrect. This includes using data from responsible research groups. The Internet is a wonderful tool, unfortunately, most of what you read is inaccurate, misleading or a downright lie.

Most hunting rifles are in fact more powerful than the ones often touted as should be outlawed. The whole thing is dumb really, and it is just the appearance that is different.
You're right, most people that don't know should read up before believing what they hear.
Take care.
