Movie Recommendation and Related Links: "Amazing Grace"

This movie has the historical story behind the song, "Amazing Grace."  It stars Ioan Gruffudd (Reed Richards; Fantastic 4) as William Willberforce, who led the movement in Great Britain to end the slave trade.  The movie has been out since 2006, but I just seen it recently on DVD and thought it was really impactful--you can't help but cry during parts of it.

I never learned anything about this in school (probably because of the combination of it being mostly British history and having a religious aspect to it), but what I didn't know was Willberforce and Thomas Jefferson were in contact with each other during this time period.

I agree this is a great movie. If you rent or buy the DVD watch the comments from the actors. You see that they were not "making" a movie, but showing all that went into changing this practice and ending the slave trade. Also watch what it cost Wilberforce to do this.

This was a fabulous movie: well acted, vivid characters, great, inspiring theme. The Brits know how to make these kinds of movies.
