I just love Sam Cooke. This song is filled with so much emotion of what was happening during that time and its prevalence is available today.

yes Faith. I met Sam at a Shindig taping in '64 just before he was shot and killed. i woke today, with our wonderul president elect still reverberating in my mind from the thrills last night and this song was what I wanted to hear.

I had the pleasure of deeing Sam Cooke perform many times when I was a kid, and he was amazing!

I saw him as well, at a taping of Shindig! My mother and I went backstage and in the course of conversing with Sam we said we were going to be in vegas to see the Beatles, he said to come to his lounge show and took down our names, he never made it, was shot in that Motel a few days later! Such a drag.

He had a little club in the Bahamas, and we used to go there every weekend when my friends and I were in jr. high school. It was less than $20 for transportation, hotel and the show, so it was like going downtown. Miami does have its occasional perks.

I am still friends with and in touch with Mel carter, who started out at the same time and was god friends and an associate of Sam, he has some fond memories.
