For the most part…I have kept quiet concerning this whole political election process and listened and read both…the pros and cons of our current president, the past running candidates and now our current presidential elect. And to put it quite frankly…I think many people are missing the boat here.
For starters… From our very first presidential elect (Washington) to our new currently presidential elect (Obama)…there has NEVER been a president that didn’t make a mistake of some sorts. We put these guys on pedestals and expect so much of them, that we loose sight of the fact that they ALL have character flaws. They will sometimes make poor choices and they will sometimes make good choices. Not one is ALL good and not one is ALL bad. They get tired and weary like the rest of us. They have good days and bad days. They bleed when they’re cut. They get sick and have to have physical care when their bodies are weak. And then ultimately…just like the rest of us…they too will eventually one day die. Pass on. Kick the bucket. Pushing up daisies.
Sometimes folks whom we think will fail us the least...oftentimes fail us the most. Do we ever stop to think about the weight that each of our president’s have to carry on their shoulders? Everyone one of them has had to make difficult decisions that affected not only themselves, but also the entire country in which they govern.
Think about it… Our present day presidential elects have billions of people to consider when laws get passed and/or vetoed. Have anyone of you noticed that there is NOT one presidential elect that walks into the Whitehouse fresh as a spring flower on a cool day; that doesn’t end their election term without gray or white hair? Are they not worn out, beaten down and even aged quite a bit? What does that tell us? It tells us that being the President of the United States of America is one of the most…if not “THE” most stressful jobs that exist in our country today! The weight that is on their shoulders is so insurmountable, we can’t possibly come to terms with it, or even imagine it, in our own minuscule little minds. Most of us have a hard enough time making decisions that just effect our families and loved ones…much less our entire country. Put yourself in their shoes and ask yourself what would you do, if you knew every decision you had to make, was going to affect the livelihood of every person you govern? Goodness gracious folks!!! That’s a lot of pressure!!!
Bush is not the only decision maker in the Whitehouse. People forget that the media as we know it today…DOES NOT think that positive news sell! The media is not going to let you know of the times Bush tried to make good choices, but found himself overcome and buttin’ up against the brick wall of congress. You will never hear them report that farmer Joe’s mama pig had 5 babies. And how sweet and nice that is. But you are most definitely going to hear about President Clinton screwing Monica Lewinsky. Why? Not just because it makes for a better story. But because it SELLS!!! It puts money in their pocket!!!
For some strange and sick reason…people like to gravel in bad news. They like getting the dirt on everyone. They like to see other folk’s pain and devastation. If you don’t believe me…try watching what people do when there is a severe car accident and/or a murder that took place in their neighborhood. Almost everyone has to stop and not only look…but will sit and watch for hours until the mess is cleaned up. Sounds pretty sick; doesn’t it? But we do it every day. Without thinking about it. Maybe in some unconscious way…we are coming to terms with our own mortality?
I know many folks feel that Bill Clinton made some positive choices for our country. But trust me… It wasn’t based on his outstanding moral character. That’s for sure. In fact…he’s probably had the worse reputation of all our presidential elects combined…concerning moral scandals. But for some reason…we were willing to overlook his sins, but yet we can’t overlook the mistakes of our current president. Why is that??? Is it because the sins of Clinton effected him more on a personal level and the mistakes of Bush happened to affect the majority of our country? Both men made mistakes. However, one was overlooked and the other was not.
President Bush is one of the few presidents in our country that has never had a "true" scandal come up against him; whether moral or sexual. He was a praying man and wasn’t afraid to let his country know. I believed he cared for this country very much. Yes…he made some mistakes, but so have all the other presidential candidates. Whose to say that any of the other presidents who had to face some of the same difficult decisions that Bush has had to face during his terms, would have not done some of the same things? No one knows what we will do until we walk a mile in their shoes.
Think about it folks? Yes…Bush made some decisions that some folks thought were horrible. But again…think about it??? Has anyone noticed besides me, that out of all the presidential elected candidates…that during Bush’s terms…our country has faced some of the most horrific natural and manmade disasters of our generation than all other presidential elects and terms combined? Our country faced 9-11, Hurricane’s Katrina, Rita, Ike and probably a few others that I can’t think of right now. There have been more horrific murders in our schools, way beyond the norm and other heartaches that have touched each and everyone of our lives and we are suppose to blame Bush for all of this? Are we suppose to believe that he caused the hurricanes, the bombings and the murders in our country? He was hit with one blow, after another, after another, after another, until he probably didn’t know which way was up? And that was just in our country alone, not counting the issues outside of America. Bless his troubled heart. His head must have been spinning in a thousand different directions? We as the human race are so quick to judge people without understanding all the facts and what constituted those choices.
What would happen if God forbid, we experienced another 9-11 under Obama’s term? Would you not think that he is not going to want to fight for our freedom and protect our country? To live in peace? Of course he would!!! It’s human nature to defend ourselves when someone tries to touch our well-being. Would we not do it ourselves…if an intruder came into our place of resident, business and against our loved ones? Of course we would!!!
There are many whom have shouted that Bush was wrong for leading this country into war. However, let us ask this question? Who’s doing the shouting? Is it the over 3000 family members who watched their loved ones die on that horrific and terrible tragic day we ALL have come to know as 9-11? I doubt it… They are ALL probably saying…”KILL THE DUMB BASTARDS THAT TOOK OUR LOVED ONES AWAY!!! RIP THEIR GUTTS OUT!!! MAKE THEM SUFFER THE SAME WAY THEY MADE US SUFFER!!!” I guarantee you that the ones who are against the war now, would more than likely be singing a different tune, if their loved ones experienced the same horrific death.
I hate war just as much as the next guy. But I shutter to think how many more 9-11's we would have experienced had we not gone to war? There were many men and women who were not enlisted when this war began. Yet they felt that it was their civic duty to do so. No one twisted their arm or held a gun to their head to make them enlist. There isn’t any draft that is currently active in our country. So why did they do it? Why did they enlist knowing full well that they more than likely were going to be deployed to Iraq, with the possibility of not ever coming back alive and/or seeing their loved ones again, when they didn’t have to do it? Because it was for the love of their country and the freedom it stands for… That’s what made them do it! They wanted to make sure the future generations of their families and loved ones had the same opportunity for freedom that they had...
Even if Obama ended the war and pulled our troops out as soon as he took office; yes…we would have a victory celebration knowing that for the time being our loved ones would be safe!!! But would they? I’m not convinced that we wouldn’t be right back there, if Afghanistan pulled another doozy on America like they did on 9-11. Like I mentioned before…it’s in our human nature to defend what and whom we love. And folks…let’s face it… We American’s…despite the flaws and troubles we face…love our country and it’s amazing how we will pull together and put down our differences and prejudices against one another and form an everlasting bond for the good of our country, to defend our rights and freedoms that our forefathers fought and died to give us, as soon as we are attacked as a nation. If we can put our differences behind us for a short period of time during a crisis…what is stopping us from continuing when things are normal and going good?
And yes…let’s not forget that we receive and maintain our freedom because of those who “FOUGHT” and “DIED” for each of us, so we can continually enjoy the freedoms and privileges we ALL have today and many times take for granted. America’s freedom wasn’t handed to us like a gift on a silver platter. Our country had to FIGHT to get it and we have to FIGHT to keep it! If we hadn’t…we could have easily been another country like Russia. Where many don’t even have the privilege and right to choose their religion and/or political party.
The color of the skin, social background, and financial status has nothing to do with whether our presidential elects have the ability to succeed or not... It’s a combination of conviction, experience, integrity, faith and unforeseen circumstances that can make or break us as a people and a nation.
We just experienced a milestone in history yesterday. Something that has never happened before. It's fresh... It's new... It's exciting... But we must never forget that our current presidential elect is foremost a human being and he...like the other previous presidents still needs our prayers. I often wonder what would have happened if we as a country would have prayed and asked God to help Bush and the other cabinet members with the choices they were forced to make, and sometimes under horrific circumstances; instead of complaining, grumbling, fault finding, pointing the finger and passing blame? Maybe we might have seen some better results?
There is a law on this earth called the law of reciprocity. What you sow…you reap. The farmers have understood it. The horticultures have understood it. And the folks in Biblical times have understood it. People and circumstances will never rise above our expectations of them. It has been psychologically proven that you can take the worse kids in our country, who came from unfair and unjust circumstances and backgrounds, and begin to speak positive things about them and over their lives; and eventually, you will ultimately see many of them go on to develop a better self image and will lead positive, thriving, successful, productive lives in their latter years.
It’s time for America to understand, that we as a nation, are never going to agree on every person that gets elected or the decisions that are made. There hasn’t been one time in our country that any president and their decisions were 100% accepted by ALL its citizens. In fact…some presidents had to withstand attempts on their lives and a few even succumbed by way of death, because of their beliefs and the decisions they tried to make for the betterment of our nation.
I don’t believe any president takes office anticipating to fail and/or make a mess of our nation. It’s bad enough that every decision they make is served on a platter for us to pick at, chew on and then spit out with our criticism. All of them go into and hold the office of the President of the United States of America, expecting to make a positive influence on and for our country. Some fail and some succeed. But that doesn’t make them bad if they fail and good if they don’t. However, the fact remains…none of them failed with malicious intent to do our country harm. They are ALL flawed human beings doing the best they can with what they have to work with… Think about it... They are dealing with multiple opinions everyday of their lives. They are feeling bad enough as it is because of their failures and wounds, without our country adding salt into it with our uncontrollable critical tongue. None of us likes to be humiliated in front of our peers…but we don’t seem to mind doing it to others…do we???
Regardless of race or religion; our presidents have a full plate in their hands. Doing their best to make right choices, for the betterment of our country and the residents of our nation. Despite Obama’s convictions to lead our country into a better day… It’s not a guarantee he can do it. No one knows the future…except He who made all things, including the future. We don’t know what our current presidential elect will have to face during the next 4 years. Obama himself said: that he can’t guarantee that all his attempts will succeed during his current term. It may take more than one term to get the job done. He just wants to get the process started.
So…whether we agree or disagree with our new president; instead of cursing him and assuming the worse; why not stand by him and pray for him and those whom he works with and for the decisions they are going to have to make while in office? Whether we like it or not…Obama is going to be our president for the next 4 years (at least) and who knows??? Why not be grateful that we live in a country that gives us the freedom to choose where we want to live, work, whom we want to vote for and the God of whom we want to serve. Maybe if we unite, instead of divide against one another…we will indeed, as a corporate body called AMERICA…experience and see our country face a brighter day! Hugs and love to ALL!!!

I, for one, was tired of defending the intelligence of a man I didn't vote for. It strains my imagination why people can think a Yale graduate with a Harvard MBA is stupid. Intellectually lazy, sure. That's the Texan good ole boy persona. We've got a lot of them left.
The 9/11 highjackers were all from Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Lebanon or Egypt.
Yet we attacked Iraq. I keep thinking we should have looked harder at the Saudis. People also keep forgetting that the Oklahoma City bombing was by a US citizen. We have a lot of home-grown terrorists we need to avoid. To me they are a bigger threat since they are closer: driving down our streets, walking into our buildings, eating at our restaurants.
It's good to hear that some people are overlooking Bill Clinton's sexcapades. Here in the heart of conservatism, you don't hear anything good about Clinton, even if some people have become less supportive of Bush.
Maybe we all need to remember the adage about people in glass houses not throwing stones.
But I would hope that a president will use the wisdom of those around him or her to determine the necessity of war because to the best of my knowledge nobody wants war. A president can only go on the information at hand and the counsel given. If we had an entire country screaming we want war, then I'd think I somehow got on the wrong bus.
The next 4 years are not going to be perfect, it would be hard for any new president. We should not expect miracles or for things to change overnight. We need to be realistic, tolerant and compassionate. We can all change this country for the bestter and we can do it together.
People don't want war. Farah didn't want war either. Farah lived in Mosul and the following tells you about her.
Major Mark Bieger found this little girl after the car bomb that attacked our guys while kids were crowding around. The soldiers here have been angry and sad for two days. They are angry because the terrorists could just as easily have waited a block or two and attacked the patrol away from the kids. Instead, the suicide bomber drove his car and hit the Stryker when about twenty children were jumping up and down and waving at the soldiers. Major Bieger, I had seen him help rescue some of our guys a week earlier during another big attack, took some of our soldiers and rushed this little girl to our hospital. He wanted her to have American surgeons and not to go to the Iraqi hospital. She didn’t make it. I snapped this picture when Major Bieger ran to take her away. He kept stopping to talk with her and hug her.
Farah was this tiny little bundle in Maj. Bieger's arms when the picture was taken. She was wrapped in a blanket. I'm sure she didn't want war either.
While Bush wasn't involved in any sexual misadventures he presided over the most corrupt administration since Ronald Reagan or Warren Harding. The no bid contracts for rebuilding Iraq are only one example.
I'm looking for a job at the moment. If I can't find an RPG programmer job soon I'll look into rebuilding countries. Seems like it's hard to break into if the government doesn't allow competitive bids.
This is true, but we are looking at someone that has been trained from a child to believe in Communism, has never in his life compleated any thing, but took credit for them. Has a long history of racism. May not even be a legal citizen, as he refuses to disprove the forgery experts about his Birth Certificate.
This is about the truth, and in this election that was trampled, and many of the American people supported it so they could get handouts, or as one women so eloquently stated it; "I will no longer have to pay for the gas in my car, or my Morgage!"
No one likes war, but sometimes it's neccessary. OUr country had to have a war to break away from the British rule.....
WAR was never necessary to further the corrupt bush idea of world/oil domination.
As he tries to start another one with Syria and Pakistan by violating their sovereign territory.
I just hope none of you neocon's children are involved.
Please return some posts to others in the group
actum est de re publica
this:
ad interim
You don't mind, do you?
You know that frogs don't do well in the deserts of Iraq, and the heat and cold of Afghanistan, don't you? People would be poking at him all the time to see if he is in hibernation or not, or poking around in the mud in case he buried himself for a little while. That would just be irritating!
I liked Bush for the most part. You are right, he was faced with so many huge problems.
I will do my best to support the office of the Presidency even if I don't agree with the country's choice.
