All Americans were part of an historical night and all Americans will be a part of what will be an historic presidential term. Democrat, Republic, Independent and everything in between. It doesn't matter. We are all part of history and will be for at least the next 4 years.
I'm a democrat and voted for Barack Obama and feel proud that American's could look past his race, and look towards big changes and better, brighter future for everyone.
As many news reporters are saying this morning, this election has proven to every child, in every economic background, or every race and religion, that they can truely grow up to be President. It is no long just about telling your kids, "you can be whatever you want to be if you work hard and strive for it." The statement is more than just a statement, but a truth that was proven by Americans last night.
My grandparents came to this country after surviving the Holocaust. They came with nothing and worked thier way up. My grandmother, a successful dressmaker in the neighborhood and especially my grandfather, who went from being a baker's apprentice in Washington Heights, NYC to being one of the top life insurance sales people Mutual of New York had ever seen. He had no education. His English wasn't great, but he succeeded. My grandmother voted for Obama because she's always believed that the United States was a place where you earned everything you had by working hard. You can work hard and make something of yourself. Obama proves that. If my grandfather was alive today, I know he'd be proud, simply because Barack Obama truely worked hard for this presidency. He earned it. He's humble and he's genuine and he will now help American bring brighter things than the last 8 years have brought us.
My mother works for a startup human resources consulting firm that focuses in on diversity in the workplace in all aspects: gender, religion, race, sexual preference. What happened last night, and what will happen in the next four (hopefully eight) years, signifies what my mother's company strives for: equality and working together as a team to make the workplace better. Well, last night Americans worked as a team to make The United States of America a better place.
The international community has not been thrilled with our leadership the past eight years, and Barack Obama will surely bring back to the United States the respect it had in the past.
I look forward to a better economy, better health care, better educational opportunities, pulling out of Iraq in an intelligent way, and most of all, the happiness that will sweep across the United States with the knowledge that there is hope. There will be changes made. Big changes.
So let's all welcome Barack Obama, his wife Michelle, 2 daughters Sasha and Malia and thier new puppy (they earned it) into our hearts and homes and work together as Americans in conjunction with Obama to make our futures, and the futures of our children and grandchildren better.

We must support Obama and American workers many of whom have had the doors of opportunity slammed in their faces by foreign competition.
Yesterday was such a tremendous "event." Did you see the joy on people's faces? When was the last time so much euphoria was shown on TV news? I'm going to hold on to this good feeling as long as I can!
