I have not changed my mind about my vote. I made my decision and I proudly stand behind it. What has made me sad is the commotion going on around Gather. I have been on Gather for almost two years, and I have never seen so much negativity and hatred expressed over one thing as much as there has been over this election.
Our country is in the midst of some of the greatest crises facing it, and even as McCain stated, we need to pull together to get things accomplished. Fear, hatred, anger, and gossip will do nothing but further damage a country that used to be great. I have been very dishearted by people spreading rumors that if you let "them" take away the right to own a semi automatic weapon, they will take your rifle next. I am tired of working harder for somebody else to benefit, and on and on. Do you think that you have worked that much harder than I do? I know there are millionaires that make their money on the backs of others. i am not less deserving because i can't manipulate others to buy things they don't need and can't afford. I am not less deserving because I can't put a basketball through a hoop very often. I am not less hardworking because I put in 40 hrs a week, and then continued to work as much as i physically could so that my kids could graduate high school. I did not go to work sick, and dizzy, only to be sent to the hospital, because i didn't want to work hard. Be that as it may, I don't want to take away what others have earned either. I think that business, big business needs to give back to the people they have been taking from for years to line their own pockets.
None of that, however, is why I am sad. I am sad watching my friends on both sides rant against each other in a verbal assault of unfounded accusations. I know for a fact that Obama may not be able to do what needs to be done to turn the country around. The fact is, if our country doesn't pull together, the United States will be a nice dream someday. I stand by my vote, and i stand by your right to vote as you see fit, as has been done in previous elections that my vote didn't hold much say. All I am asking you my friends, on both sides of this fence, don't sling swords of words and anger. Wait, see and watch, and find out what you can do to help make a difference for OUR country, and ALL of her citizens.
Blessings and Hugs to all

it will be back to normal soon,,
My candidate did not win the presidency, but he won his freedom. I will pray for President-elect Obama. He is facing some very serious problems and has a lot of promises to keep.
There is hope, it will all work out. What you are feeling PVTS - Post Voting Traumatic Syndrome ;) i made that up. A good night's sleep will take of it.
I believe in faith and love, I believe in God above.
I believe in my fellow man, and I believe anyone can.
one heart hoping to find another to make two believing together.
Hope you do get some sleep tonight, Lisa.
Have a great night!
Today, we must be a credit to them.
We're like a huge family, fighting amongst ourselves, but God help anyone who attacks us from outside.
Debate, even heated, is extremely important to the health of our republic.
The Utopian society you want is not one in which I want to live.
It is by doing the latter that we can achieve the most.
A fitting word from the New Testament by marianne K.
Even if their resentment (other people are getting a better deal than me) or fear (Obama is really a Muslim socialist) was irrational and manipulated by others for political advantage, folks still have fears and resentments at the end of the race.
It may take some time to realize that the fears and resentments are built on false impressions.
Thanks.
Why not follow their lead? There are people here on gather campaigning for Bobbie Jindal in 2012, and selling bumper stickers that say don't blame me I did not vote for Obama. That is a bit lacking in class. Let's give it a rest at least until Obama takes office, for the love of Pete.
Some lady said to me, "I bet he won't be in office for two years before somebody kills him."
REALLY!? I was so hurt by that! I went absolutely silent, and then I said, "Well why would you think that?"
"Because people don't want a black man running this country." she said quietly.
ARE YOU SERIOUS!!! WHY ARE PEOPLE SO IGNORANT!?
It made me sad to even think about people asking that question.
He may not put our country back together in four years, but she sure as hell proved that our nation is changing and evolving. Anyone can be our president.
I am so proud to have Barack Obama as my leader for the next four years!
Let them sound off among themselves until they find another self interested cause to distract them and drag them back to Limbaugh and Fox News for their marching orders. We still have some feeling GOOD to do!
I had my concerns about both candidates but all I can say now is I think we should all pray for Obama and our country.
The best thing so far that has come out of this is the great impact it has had on the black citizens of our nation and their children. They no longer should be treated or feel they are second class citizens. I hope the practice of arresting black people as they travel to Florida for vacation will now end. Because they had vacation money they were accused of being drug dealers and some not only lost their money but there cars.
We do have a long way to go in this country and I hope with a Black president, the awful treatment that continues will end. Maybe finally we will see an improvement in the search for missing black children on tv.
'I know for a fact that Obama may not be able to do what needs to be done to turn the country around.'
They unmistakeable inference in the syntax to make me believe you expect Obama to fail. I simply cannot buy into such negative thought. I'm sick and tired of the partisan finger pointing and slurs (subtle and not so subtle). People who want to tear Obama down 70 days before he actually takes office shows such annoying bitterness that I wonder if such people really care about our country. Good Christians should know what the Bible says about a house divided, but yet the still join in the negative chorus of the destructive words of Limbaugh, Hannity and others divisive forces spewing thoughts to divide us.
If our country is to be great, we need to smile again and be civil in our disagreements. The vile thoughts from media partisan spin entertainers is not civil.
Obama not my choice but,,, I will respect him,,, he has a lot to take care of,,, God keep him safe from fools,,,
I truly believe that Obama was always the best person for the job - he can't work miracles - this country is in big trouble but it's a start - at least, the US doesn't have to hang its head in shame anymore.
I think we need to focus on the positve aspects of what is going on. Next time, those hateful folks spew forth negative comments ask them what they are doing for their country. Salud
I stand behind Obama our president elect 100% even if it was not my choice. God Bless America, we desperately need it.
We have tried the neocon's way for the last 28 years with a few brief breaks, it obviously doesn't work. It has failed miserably despite having every advantage. It's time someone else with different attitudes gave it a try. You can predict disaster with the next Administration and by your own actions bring that about if you choose but your side of the boat will also sink in that case. Don't be a monkey with his hand full of nuts unable to pull his arm out of the narrow necked jar. Cast your bread upon the waters.
