In the last month, Gather readers were "treated" to countless articles recycling the same tired myths, delusions, and "talking points" of the rightwing noise machine.
Among these were articles by "Political Correspondents" who publish errant nonsense, apparently with the approval of Gather.
Most laughable were the hypotheses about vast numbers of disaffected Democrats who were allegedly supporting McCain. No one could find these supposed voters, but blowhards loudly trumpeted their assurances about these "unicorns".
I have saved some of the most egregious examples of political stupidity for general enjoyment after the election is ended.

One of the things that I admired about the Obama campaign was the "big picture" effort to create a new political map by campaigning and making small gains where Republicans have dominated too long.
Does anyone remember Brett, who pretendced to be a Democrat from Chicago.
He was stupidly offensive in his arguments that the Democrats were headed for a "landslide defeat" by nominating a "liberal" senator.
I wonder if McCain will concede.
Nahh.
I hope.
Absolutely, Ron.
We have been governed by an extremist political ideology for eight years.
Virginia has gone Democratic. This has huge ramifications in the political map.
McCain's concession speech is generous, good, and noble.
True, indeed, Madame Donna.
Yes, Peter, I wondered where all the naysayers are now. There is one out there who removed my comment from her article. But, mostly, the usual suspects are silent tonight.
This has been a good day for the United States of America.
And they will continue to lose elections as long as they are more focused on "spin" than on plans.
Does anyone really believe that a response to the Obama Tax Plan can be made by the fraudulent "Joe the Plumber'?
A few years in the wilderness will do the GOP a world of good.
I am not sure karl Rove has gotten the message yet, if his pompous nonsense on Fox was an indication of his "best thinking".
Exactly, Joe.
We haven't heard from them, Ruth.
For some of them, they will have to catch talk radio today to learn some comfortable myth to explain this devastating reversal of Republican Party fortunes.
I would love to see those again, Stephanie.
There seem to be very few silly blue campaign posters as icons today.
I was surprised not to see them on Election Day, Mary Louise.
Love your charming comment, Dannielle.
What a relief to see intelligence and thoughtfulness in the White House again.
Thank God for Obama.
Thank God for Obama. "
I concur entirely, Martin.
As David Letterman asked the other night, "Can't he start early?"
My husband must travel to several places in downstate Illinois and he mentioned how many unhappy Republicans he met. That must be significant, because my husband does not pay much attention to politics.
That might be because they were almost non-existant, Mary Louise.
Discussion of this wacko idea was kept alive by the rightwing noise machine, abetted by a few delusional thinkers of Gather.
