Does anyone have problems with thier hip joint? I have problems with my S.I. joint in the left hip and they have tried everything and it keeps getting worse. They are now giving me a cortizone shot on the 15th of this month, at first I wasnt worried but after they told me it is different than just getting the shot and going home, I have to be in an operating room and they sedate you and do the procedure under some kind of xray machine, I asked the doctor why and he told me that it is very important to make sure they are in the right area because they have to go so close to the spinal cord that if it isnt done this way it could paralize me. I have never heard of a cortizone shot being such a hassle. Is there anyone who knows anything about this or maybe who has had it done? I have checked it out a little online and some of the forums I found were people who have had it done and said that it made them worse than they were before. I mean, it isnt a major surgury or anything but I was told that with the first shot, it will only give me about 5 days or so of being pain free then 3 months down the road I would get another one and the doctor said maybe 2 or 3 weeks relief from that one and after that I would get one more and if it didnt work, they would do surgury. Sorry I am rambling on about this, I normally dont like to talk about my problems but this is kind of scaring me a little. I would appreciate any advise or first hans experience with this. thanks for listening.

I'd definately think it over and write all my questions down and try to schedule an appt. before actually getting any of those shots to ask the questions so I could make a more informed decision, and if need be, delay the actual shots until I got the answers. Just my opinion.
DiAnA asked if you tried acupuncture. I had some relief from that a few years ago. Problem is that insurance doesn't always pay for it.
