To say that citizens of this country are dissatisfied is an understatement. This election campaign has been the most divisive I have ever witnessed, but still by some genius of the founders, the country hangs together.
The founders knew that democratic governments had problems getting everyone to agree, so they opted for a republic. They were hoping that by using representatives instead of giving everyone a say, things would work more smoothly. It has worked for a couple of hundred years so far. Sometimes it looks like we're getting to the end of a pretty good run. Some people will be disappointed tomorrow. Their candidate will have lost, and they will find themselves led by a candidate they did not choose.
If the Democrats win, hopefully, Republicans will not make this disappointment the occasion to hamstring the president, making it impossible to accomplish his goals, as they did with Bill Clinton. If they do, it will not be the first time, but they might find that the rest of the country is a little tired of the game.
The founders designed the government to respond to change slowly. Like a supertanker, the federal government needs plenty of time and lots of energy to change directions. Of course, the government may not be making any changes.
If the Republicans win, Democrats will have to buck up and go along with the majority. No one will expect them to abandon their more liberal ideas, but they will need to work with the president to get us through what looks more like a looming economic disaster each day.
The third-party supporters haven't got a prayer, but they knew that.
Tomorrow morning, I will get up at 5 o'clock and go to the precinct where I work as a bilingual poll worker. I will take my oath of office, and I will help as many people vote as I can. I will prevent people from politicking within the proscribed area, and I will do my job to the best of my ability. I will not attempt to influence anyone's vote, nor will I allow anyone to interfere with any voter's right to cast a ballot for the candidates of his or her choice. Whatever happens tomorrow, on Wednesday morning, I will still be an American, and I will support my president and my country.

Yes, after all is said and done we will need reconciliation. Though we will remain, "A govenment of the people, by the people and for the people."
You do good work. Keep it up.

First thing tomorrow to vote. Bed early.
We no longer want to hear
the old politics of fear
Won't you please vote for Obama
for us all
We refuse to be divided
by what corporate greed's decided
Won't you please vote for Obama
because you've heard the call
We can change the world
Re-arrange the world
We know we can do better
Working for real solutions
to violence, poverty, pollution
Obama's got the courage and the plan
The will to do what's right
and lead us in our fight
to regain our hope, our nation
-- Yes we can!
We can change the world
Re-arrange the world
All we need's a real leader
With Obama we will stand
Feel free to spread it around. No copyright. I sing it to the old Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young "Chicago" tune.
Peace, and Remember, remember this 4th of November to VOTE!
Please remember to vote on November 4th.
Obama/Biden '08'
Despite talk between my husband and I about emigration... I'll support whoever wins, as long as it is done cleanly.
I'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed that I will wake up Wednesday morning still full of hope for our country's future...
Giving us all a much broader choice at least in the primaries and quite possibly bring forth a third or even fourth strong political party. It is time we have more flavors to choose from. How would you all like to be stuck with two kinds of ice cream or pie. Humanity likes a variety yet we choose either Vanilla or Chocolate or Pumpkin or Apple if you were to view it like pie or ice cream. So who I voted for is probably not going to win.
I am not praying for him to win and would not pray for Obama to win or McCain if I had voted for either of them. I am praying that God puts whom it is he WILLS in the White House for his purpose and his plan and his will. I am quite fine with that. I will stand behind whomever wins and pray for that man.
I know it is going to be a very very close election. A lot of the 18 and 19 year olds registered to vote this year and many who never voted before registered for the first time. Watching a news story tonight in the local area showed a high school of teens senior year 18 and 19 year olds and they are divided pretty much down the middle. It could well come down to a handful of votes and may even be too close to call tomorrow night. Just pray God's will not yours is done. He will put it right as he chooses. Blessings to all at least we here in American still have a choice.
How's THAT for mixed metaphors, eh?
...and Dan K ... I think Georgiana gets it.
I was disappointed a long time back when Ron Paul got out of the running.
I am, also, not guilty of having supported Slick Willy or Dubya. I will remain solidly in the opposition.
I love your attitude. That's the attitude that makes a democracy work. May your tribe increase.
Let's give the guy a chance, whoever it may be, to do his job. Then we can bury him, as too many of us are salivating to do anyway.

Whichever candidate gets in, he will probably be a one term President. If it's McCain, he really will be too old to run a second term. (Besides, Palin will be ready.) And if it's Obama, people will realize what he really meant.

I can't wait until these people realize how wrong they are!
Even Joe Biden, who I think is little more than a partisan blow hard, has to be given credit for his accomplishments.
Don't even bother with the idea that the Democrats were too oppositional to the Republicans.
open our hearts to others.
But Even as we have this option here, I wonder about myself, I wonder about my understanding and practice of what it means by Interbeing connectedness, to be open with intelligent caution. And what difference does it make to the world around me whether I vote, if I don't see the value in my neighbor whether he or she has material success or has needs I cannot understand..

There will always be things going on in the government that I don't support. I was merely hoping for an end to policies that made me angry with and ashamed of my government. Obama is not a savior. He will have plenty of work to do.
Watch for Bush to so as much damage as possible between now and January 20, including zillions of appointments of die-hard neocons, and rule changes that will make Obama's work much more difficult. Sore losers are like that. I'm pretty sure Bush is a sore loser. We all know he's a loser.
We won't all agree with everything that the new president will do, but I (at least one conservative) will give him a chance to implement his policies. With strong majorities in both houses of Congress, he should see little resistance.
However, if liberals continue bashing Bush then, unfortunately, Obama can expect pretty much the same from conservatives.
Is this really what you want?
I just wanted to say I am finally going through my currently over 6,500 pieces of gather new mail that is in my inbox on here.
