Scary but true

Yeow, someone didn't have their wheaties this am. Ouch.

That's a great trick for a late Halloween treat -- pretty profound though. I was planning to write an article about modern moral decline, so this should help spark that. The AngelEyes e-card website used to have a card which depicts hell, and I always wondered if anyone sends it to their enemies? Then, of course, Art Bell sometimes plays those "sounds of hell" that were supposedly taped from a hole in Siberia. (But others claim it's from a movie). Scary stuff -- thanks for sharing!

Angie - Hon, it wasn't me who wrote this. A friend dared me and others to repost IF we felt the need or desire to, and I felt that it was something some of us need to be reminded of.

Possibly it is Satan or the Devil who put the salt in the Wheaties instead of the sugar on the one eating it.

Visionaerie ~ The decline of morality huh? Haaa! NO joke. The decline of respect, love, honor, anything and everything that one holds on to has been violated. Nothing is sacred anymore.

I've never seen those cards you've mentioned. You know you've raised a very good question that has me quite curious now. I must go see those cards. I don't think that I have ever been so angry with anyone when I would want to wish them a trip to hell before. I am just the type who is angry for five minutes and five minutes later I am ok and everything is as it was before.

The bells are from the Exorcist weren't they? Or am I mistaken about which bells you are speaking of??

Sometimes we just forget that every action we commit produces an effect not only on ourselves but on others as well. I still believe in God even though I have troubles converting that belief into the many twists and turns now governing the churches I once attended without question. I have let the actions of others control my life. It really does not matter what others do if you still believe in yourself and make the best case for what you believe is right. I cannot believe even with the strong voice of Satan in this dark epistle that people who do extreme wrong believe themselves to be in the right. When I was a teacher, I sometimes espoused non-traditional thoughts about some subjects - women being paid the same as men, men taking responsibiity for their children and paying for their welfare, women being equal with men, all of that feminist propaganda I still believe in - but it never occurred to me to have sex with my students because I knew it was wrong, no excuses. Since moving to Maryland, it seems a daily announcement that this type of relationship has happened and while the teacher might get fired, jailed or just outted as a sexual misfit, it does nothing for the student whose life has been harmed. This open letter just says aloud what most of us know to be true and anger or outrage will not change or alter the message. Thanks for printing this. It is never wrong to point out a failing or a trend and as the old adage truly says, "A word to the wise is sufficient," so this many words should make a difference to the wise and the not-so-wise.

What do you mean by this comment? I don't love the devil and where you would ever pick up an ungodly thing like that to say about me is downright rude and ugly. It is also disparaging and I don't appreciate it.

If I choose to write about sex or the horrors or ills in this world does not make me a devil lover. It makes me a realist. I am a God fearing and spiritual person and resent your making a remark like that.

Marianne - The Devil has been known to deceive those who know no better or different. He doesn't fool me as I am far too smart for him and I always have someone at my side that is far wiser than he is.

I had to post this for all who felt like they needed a reminder to read what it is that is normally not said let alone written in a forum such as this but felt strongly enough about it that I had to post it here and everywhere.

Janet - I know it isn't your customary run of the mill post but felt the need to share this with those who would listen...

I'm not worried, even though I'm a sinner. Who among us is perfect? Not I. I give in to temptation and admit it, though I'm not a follower of Satan. (Sometimes, I'm just human and a horny, little devil to boot.) Satan isn't strong enough to beat God...or God would have fallen hundreds of years ago. This is a letter to the very weak who can never resist. Only those who allow Satan in are the ones this letter is meant for. The rest of us have nothing to worry about.

If, like the focus of some denominations, it's intended to scare readers into fearing Satan, then I would dismiss it with a "Ho Hum". But if it is intended to remind us of some common failures which deviate from what we accept as God's will, then it serves as a valuable reminder.

Holding up a mirror to society, things that make you go, hmmmm.

it is a shame that more people have trouble admitting they are sinners like Rob. That is what we are supposed to do. All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. It is through faith and forgiveness that we will able to stand before God on judgment day. It doesn't matter what sin you have committed. That is the other thing people do to convince themselves that they are "good people" and not like the evil ones. All are God's children, and the only thing standing between them and the salvation that I have guaranteed is that admission of faith.
For God so loved THE WORLD that He gave His ONLY BEGOTTEN son so that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have everylasting life!

That doesn't say the good people. It doesn't say somebody who lied one time or somebody who committed adultry. All are equally guilty. Man puts levels on sin in an effort to excuse it. It means that a drug addict, even hardened, can be saved, and should be treat as such. It means a murderer, if he has truly found faith can be saved. This does not take away the earthly consequenses of our behavior, the people we may hurt, illness, disease, financial crises, etc.. It just removes the eternal consequenses.

This is a good reminder. I am not what you would call an out and out sinner. But I don't take the time to pray or to be as thankful as I should.

I have been a christian for 13 years and I know that i am not perfect and never will be but i do my best to live right. you must accept JESUS CHRIST as your lord and saviour to make heaven your home. so please do not let that chance pass you by.

I too find it difficult to convert my beliefs into what is actually occurring in our churches today. I am a Catholic but to attend Mass at my church is akin to going to a funeral. All pomp and no circumstance. Gone are the days of everyone smiling at one another and the fellowship is gone. I have gone to the Methodist church and again there is more of who is wearing the latest chic-est outfit or most expensive fur coat. At the Baptist church more of the same from the Methodist church but so much hypocrisy that you can cut it with a knife. I have gone to Jehovah's, blah, blah, blah. I have gone to the Unitarian church and this Mother God, Father God business is too much for me to reason with. I considered converting to Judaism a few years ago when I came close to marrying a Jewish doctor. I am just so confused with everything that is going on out there.

In spite of all of this confusion I still continue to go to Mass and try to be a good Catholic and Christian. More often than not I use my body as my temple and pray from wherever I am. I find this to be less stressful and less hypocritical.

In regards to what has happened with the educators and there misguided actions with their students, they need to go to refresher school to learn what it is they are supposed to be teaching and keep the sex education to those who are supposed to be teaching it.

I too believe that these words can be construed in one of two ways, you either are reminded of what type of life that you are leading and revise your thinking and actions or you continue being the same person that you are and keep on keeping on with the same actions and thoughts thinking that things will be different. I hope that more will take heed and learn from these mere simple words. It certainly was a wake up call for me.

Selene - You are so funny. Have a cup of coffee, perhaps you too will see the light at the end of the tunnel. ;)

Rob - You are right. We are all sinners but it is a matter of redemption and asking for forgiveness. A good soul searching and a prayer or two will certainly remedy the sinner.

At least that is how I feel. I only have one person that I have to be accountable to ultimately and try to live my life by those laws every day of my life.

I do believe that this little exercise was meant to be a simple and valuable reminder of our failures in life and how we all deviate from the ultimate plan set out for us by God and his will. I also believe that we who believe know what it is within ourselves that needs to be changed if our lives are going down the wrong path.

Denny - I understand your sentiments completely. I know what it is that you speak of when you mentioned the fact that you have seen too much done in the name of the Lord that you didn't agree with. I too have seen that which you speak of.

I too understand your questioning why you would trust God if he would have his Son, Jesus Christ die in the manner in which he did. There are many reasons for that and the primary one that you should try to remember is that Jesus died for our sins and our salvation so that we should be forgiven. It is a reminder of the ultimate price that God would pay for us. I am not very good at this religious stuff and I will leave this to more knowledgeable people.

I think that too many religions use the word of the Lord in ways that best suit them and not in what was initially meant. As I have said so many times before, it is all in the interpretation that counts.

I like this, as it IS a good reminder that Satan is always there too, doing his best to tear us away from God little by little. One part is very true of most people, they forget to say "Thank You" for the blessings and love we do receive from Him.
We're told in the Bible at the end times, not to run to your house.....this means the Church (any church), because He is not there. When I at last understood this, I had no problem with my decision not to be a 'church'goer', because He is not there already.
