The line to see Barack Obama speak at JFK Stadium tonight has stretched south down Grant Avenue to Sunshine Street.
People are beginning to park in the former Kmart parking lot — the same Bass Pro Shops overflow lot where thousands of Republicans stood in line eight days ago to see Sarah Palin speak.
Gates open at 6 p.m. for Obama’s rally. The Democratic presidential candidate is expected to take stage at 9 p.m. under the football field’s lights.

That's like a mile long line. And it doesn't start for almost three more hours.
Maybe I could take a cab so I don't have to worry about the parking.

I don't know HOW many times since then that I've thought what a GOOD decision I made that day... It was WORTH it just in watching Jerry Garcia play (he died shortly after that) AND Neil Young played with CS&N for the FIRST TIME in, like, 20 YEARS that day... I wouldn't have missed it for the WORLD.
Ina you and Kevin may want to go early morning to downtown to park or take the rapid early. Get pictures.
Palins going to be at a small park here in Lakewood Monday morning. Good friends of mine own the house at the corner, right across the street. They have a huge front lawn and they are usually open for anything. I'm thinking a pagan ritual? I'll keep you all posted.
ATTAGIRL!
I hope you get in, and can't wait to hear about it!
PS I am 68 years old.......but I wouldn't have missed it (or the leg cramps and sore muscles I still have) for anything in the world!
LOL Go and be a part of history!!
Blessed be, have a great time!

I waited in a long-ass line (it took forever to find the end) when I went to one in Pittsburgh. They had metal detectors (and the TSA checking bags, cell phones and cameras) but didn't ask for any ID.
I'll try to get an article written but first I've got to relax a bit. That's the most walking I've done since I was about 10 years old.
At 9:10 p.m., there were still people shuffling onto the football field in an overflow section that begins at the 30 yard line and stretches toward the north endzone.

I hope she enjoyed it nonetheless. My lovely wife did get to go do this without kids up anus, basically due to all of us being sick.
