In instances like these, I think to myself: "In 10 years, will I regret NOT having gone?" If I really believe the answer is "yes", then I go -- no matter how much hassle it is... I did this when they were holding the memorial for Bill Graham in Golden Gate Park... I thought: OMG! The parking is going to be non-existent. I'll probably have to walk blocks and BLOCKS to get there and there's the bridge toll and the gas and city traffic and who knows WHAT else? But, I did it anyway -- even after my husband demonstrated his reluctance... I told him "Look. You can come with me or not... I don't care but, I'M GOING." (he went...)

I don't know HOW many times since then that I've thought what a GOOD decision I made that day... It was WORTH it just in watching Jerry Garcia play (he died shortly after that) AND Neil Young played with CS&N for the FIRST TIME in, like, 20 YEARS that day... I wouldn't have missed it for the WORLD.

Palins going to be at a small park here in Lakewood Monday morning. Good friends of mine own the house at the corner, right across the street. They have a huge front lawn and they are usually open for anything. I'm thinking a pagan ritual? I'll keep you all posted.

I went to the Obama/Clinton rally in Orlando last Wed ..35,000 people at MIDNIGHT on a weeknight. It was amazing! Everyone was excited and having a good time. Yes....the parking was adequate but from there to the end of the line was at least a mile and walking back to the gate the same distance. We got there at 7 PM, gates opened at 8:30 but we never got thru the metal detectors til 9:30 to get inside.
PS I am 68 years old.......but I wouldn't have missed it (or the leg cramps and sore muscles I still have) for anything in the world!

BTW NO back packs/coolers/etc but take a blanket to sit on if there is going to be a long wait after you get inside. I found a gate to lean on so I wouldn't be stuck in the middle of a crush when it started.

I waited in a long-ass line (it took forever to find the end) when I went to one in Pittsburgh. They had metal detectors (and the TSA checking bags, cell phones and cameras) but didn't ask for any ID.

She is now about 6 blocks away from where he will speak. So far, so good.

okay, she is in now! She said there is no chance of getting any good pictures, she would have needed to be there at 5 am!

I've been there, done that, and now I'm home.

I'll try to get an article written but first I've got to relax a bit. That's the most walking I've done since I was about 10 years old.

At 9:10 p.m., there were still people shuffling onto the football field in an overflow section that begins at the 30 yard line and stretches toward the north endzone.

Gah! It sounded like utter chaos from the calls she gave me....but then again, I was doped up on cold medicine and only half conscious, so my perspective was skewered a bit.

I hope she enjoyed it nonetheless. My lovely wife did get to go do this without kids up anus, basically due to all of us being sick.
