Unofficial Poll - McCain? Obama?

November 01, 2008 01:39 PM EDT

You can put your choice in the comment section and please, without anything except the name of who you are voting for.  No editorialzing or campaigning.

Let's see how close Gather comes to the actual election.

If you would rather your name not be assoicated with who you voted for, PM me and I'll add it to the poll without publishing your name.

BTW--no matter who wins the election on Tues.  let's be great Americans, get over our disappointment, if it isn't our guy, and back the new president.  We don't have to agree with him, or like him, and we can let him know how we feel, but let's stand behind him.

For the good of our Country, may we be a United people.

Nippy, Really isn't 'point whoring'. If you look at some of my other posts you'll see I am interested in the political scene. I also will honor Obama, if elected or McCain. I think they are both good Americans and choose to serve.

This is not like the add a letter game or some of the other point gathering posts. Which I have no problem with them, but I guess you do.

Blessings Nippy--

"This is not like the add a letter game or some of the other point gathering posts. Which I have no problem with them, but I guess you do."

Uhh...How is it different from "Things That Begin with the Letter S?" There's no creative element. It took no thought.

The problem with the "games" is that they cheapen the Gather experience. People use them to collect points without doing any work or thinking. Since the point pool is finite, behavior like this tends to drive people who actually put work into what they post away from Gather.

Nippy, I am so sorry I offended you. I truly am. After all the interesting comments on my previous posts re: Who Did I Vote For?" I truly am interested and I'm not happy that Lillian editorialize--I asked just for the name of the person they voted for.

I felt obliged to delete Lillian's post since I specifically asked that no one editorialize. But her vote should count and it was for McCain.

I agree with you, Mary, and I appreciate the kindness of this post. I'm a firm believer in the secret ballot, so I won't be participating in the poll, but my hope is that we can come together in wholeness, and once again, be friends---be as you say, "good Americans." It is such a difficult job. Anyone who takes up the heavy mantle of President of the United States needs and deserves our unified support.

Prima Donna, I can't imagine leaving Gather because everyone doesn't agree with your viewpoint. Politics isn't the only topic of discussion on Gather---I do hope you were kidding, otherwise people may get the idea you might be a bit narrow minded.

I voted for McCain and if he doesn't make it, my world is not going to fall apart. I will support Obama, as my president, and I will not quit groups who don't agree with my views of any topic.

By the way--one of the major universities did a non partisan study of major news outlets for the least biased coverage of the election---I know you're not going to believe it but yes, my dear, it was FOX. I'll see if I can find the statistics. Come on, they have as many lefties as righties if you ever watched long enough to know rather than listen to others.

Love you anyway--and please don't leave Gather if Obama doesn't get the final nod in this unofficial poll.

Just as I knew Bush was in for 8 years and would spend huge amounts of money making wars, I have been shown that Obama is our next President, and will be followed by our first woman President, a Hispanic woman.
I couldn't vote for Bush, so I held a great love for the spiritual development of the USA in my heart.
With all my heart, I can vote for Barack Obama.

FOX did that study, Mary. Now, of course, they are going to tell the truth. One has to be wary of the Republican Noise Machine. It has duped the public for many years. Hopefully, we are seeing an end to the deception.

"Fox out ranks every other news station in ratings. Obviously it is not just republicans watching them. "

Many of us on the left watch faux noise because we want to keep up with what the ridiculous right is up to now, you know. Know your enemy, and all that. It's interesting to me that those calling for unity after the election had no problem with the Republican congress and Bush walking all over progressives for six long and damaging years. Unity my eye. Voted early, for Obama, of course.

My brother & wife in Carolina, his daughter, husband, & his son: 5 votes for Obama
My sister in Colorado and her husband, 2 votes for Obama
My niece in Michigan, and her husband: 2 votes for Obama
My youngest sister? McCain. (Well, you can't have ALL people in a family be right.)
We are a multi-state family that manages to stay really tight! In fact, we conference call after the debates! It's a beaut thing.

Blessings!

O'Reilly and Hannity are political pundits. My nephew worked for O'Reilly and told me how he really is. He talks a good game but that man is evil and makes fun of the regular joes when he gets off the air. He is a poor excuse for a journalist.

You are joking about Fox, right Mary? As someone who worked as a journalist for 15 years, I find it disturbing that people think they are a fair and balanced news organization and unbiased. Couldn't be further from the truth.

By the way, my mom and dad and two sisters in California are voting for Obama.

My brother and his wife in Chicago are also voting for Obama.
