I read a Commentary today by Garrison Keillor, who I love. He writes that "Even the GOP realizes Obama's time has arrived." And he affirms that Colin Powell was right in calling Obama a transformational candidate.
In his piece he also called for people to "take a deep breath and do what's best for the country," when they vote on Tuesday. To him, and to many of us, that means voting for Obama.
Oh, and lastly, I loved his reference to McCain and Palin as the "Angry Old Man of the Desert and Whoopee the Ice Queen."

Garrison Keillor on Barack and Michelle Obama:
The campaign against him is not one that anybody will point to with pride in years to come.
It is a long trail of honking and flapping and traces of green slime, as if a flock of geese had taken up residence in the front yard. But Barack’s cool poise in the face of blather is some sort of testament to American heart and humor. The man has walked tall and his wife has turned out to be the brightest figure in the whole political parade, an ebullient woman of quick wit and beautiful spirit.
Fantasies are great for stories, but they are dangerous in real life.
"...without getting defensive or offensive." It's why Hillary, Sarah, and most especially John McCain looked so bad running against him. He is never strident, angry, sneering, or belittling, as each of them have been at various times.
Hi Carla, thanks for the heads up on Keillor and this post.
Tis a shame that Colin Powell won't run for President of our beloved USA. I would have NO problem voting him in! --Joe
I have even more respect for him now. He got lied to by Bush/Cheney just as we all did.
