My Halloween Dabble

I wasn't planning on giving out candy this year because we never get many trick or treaters. We live in a large subdivision with loads of kids, but the house is in a quiet back culdesac. So we usually don't get many visitors here. They all hit the main street through the development.

There are litterally hundreds of dressed up kids out on that main roadway once dusk starts to settle in. People have to turn out their lights in an hour because they run out of goodies so fast.

My roommate comes home with 4 bags of candy after work and leaves it on the kitchen table, expecting me to get it ready. Hmmm. So I do.

When the doorbell begins to ring, he makes me go give out the candy. The only time he got the door was when our Pizza Hut order arrived, lol.  The delivery driver was dressed up as a Dominos delivery person, which I got a good laugh at. We gave him some candy too.

We actually got 7 groups of kids last night, which I think ties or breaks our best record here. Abbey enjoyed having so many people to bark at and Gonzo said hello to everyone. I was pretty generous with the candy, but we still have half of it left.

We didn't get ANY. My neighbor next door went out for the night, and left her bowl of candy out on a chair, free for kids to take, and it was all still there in the morning...

Lots of kids this year, but like you, we still have plenty of candy left.

And we did take out, the kids started coming early so I didn't want to cook.
I did not even prepare anything this year. Two years ago, I think we had about 4 children come to the house, and they were all at once. Last year, we weren't home as that was the day my mom entered the hospital. We got home late and just shut all our lights off as I was too overwrought to deal with anything. So this year, we decided to do without, or if anyone did show, we'd give them some of the popcorn balls and mini candies that we had from our own stash. No one came. Down here, most people take their children to the churches where they have Harvest parties and the sort, so our entire block (we are also a dead end street) and the one before us were pitch black. No lights no people.

glad you got some kids this year ! we usually get tons of kids ! but my halloween was amazing ! i went to the phillies parade.. & then went out to a party afterwards ! best day of my life ! haha
We watched the parade go by our house, but we had no trick-or-treaters. On one side of our house is an apartment building & the other side is a business area - so I guess we weren't in a high treat area.

Glad you got some kids! We had 2...my neighbors! I dumped 1/2 the bowl into their bags...they loved it!

I passed out the candy to the trick or treaters last night....we had very, very few kids....and we do live on the main stretch in our subdivision. It was very odd. I think this is the fewest number of kids we've ever had.

LOL@the pizza delivery guy. We did not get anyone, I'm glad we didn't buy any candy. The kid across the street is away so her gang didn't bother any of us at this end of the block. Very quiet and uneventful.

We ordered pizza last night too. I didn't feel like cooking at all after dragging the princess and the fighter pilot all over half the town!! hee hee

We hardly ever get any kids, maybe two at most, so this year we didn't buy any candy. My husband just brought home a handful of candy from his office. We had two doorbell rings and four kids; one set arriving via an ATV as there's a lot of room between houses here. :)

We had half as many kids as last year, so we had tons of candy leftever. There goes my diet.
Great costume for the pizza guy!

I bought 13 bags of candy and thought I waaaaay over bought. An hour into Beggar's Night, Kevin had to go buy more. I've never seen so many kids. It was amazing. I've never seen so many parents dressed up with the kids, either. Not to mention dogs in costumes. Next year, we're buying a box of puppy treats to pass out with the rest.

After we passed out the goodies, we went to our favorite hang out, where my son is a manager. He was dressed as Bamm Bamm. A costume I bought for him...long story. He was awesome behind the bar with his club and rubber 6 pack. I was wearing dreadlocks and a blue feather boa.

Better not to ask.

Patricia is right. Very few people make it out to trick-or-treat in the middle of nowhere. I had four trick-or-treaters. Three were related and made the trip out just for us. The little boy across the street came over dressed as an engineer.

We did, however, share our trick-or-treat candy with the 20 or so people who came by to take a look at the kittens. Word spreads fast in a small town.

Our community has Beggar's night on a different night than the surrounding communities and everyone brings their kids here. Our night was thursday. I tried to count the kids this year but lost track when I took a phone call. I counted 235 after only 45 minutes.

We don't get many trick or treaters here. The community does a special thing for them and most of them do that instead of house to house.

We had only 2 kids stop by before we left at 7:45 for the adult trick-or-treating at a friends party. Back in Tahoe I average about a dozen each year ... not counting the bears or coyotes!

I have never had any trick-or-treaters out here. I miss giving out candy and seeing the costumes.

We didn't even get one, but we are in the country. And I just love seeing the kids all dressed up. That is one of the very few things I miss about the city.
Lets see.............
I got to scare over 100 kids by spooking my yard as usual...I love to do that ! ! !

We bought about 15 pounds of candy......there's only 2 pounds left...or maybe a little less......

I stayed up way too late........who needs sleep anyways........LOL

Ours was pretty good, except there were all these rumors going around that the local gangs were going to be out killing people. One person told me that an initiation into the gang was to kill a white woman or something. I was terrified on the drive home that every car that passed us was going to shoot me. LOL
