On Halloween, On Halloween, What Are You Going To Be?

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays...actually, it is my very favorite holiday.  I love the whole idea of ghosts and goblins and witches and vampires and as a result I like to make it a special day in kindergarten.  The children arrived at 8:30 with their costumes on and came like usual to circle time.  There was much chatter as they saw each of their friends in various costumes.  We had princesses and pirates, Batman and Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker and cheerleaders, a fireman and Wonder Woman. Come and share our day with us.















As you can see, everone is so excited and just chatting away about their costumes. 
















Luke Skywalker is sitting quietly waiting for morning routines to begin.


And Johnny Depp is thinking about all the booty he's going to get tonight.


Morning exercises finally gets underway.....











And then it's time for math.  From a basket of goodies, we choose our favorite kind and create a graph.  We talk about most and least and then "how many more" and "how many less" as we compare columns.  Do we have any equals?


It's now 10 o'clock and we go outside to see the "Pumpkins on Parade".  The circular driveway in front of the school is lined up with pumpkins in costumes.










After viewing the pumpkins, the children had recess.  Regrouping once again in the classroom, one of the parents reads a Halloween story.

























After we sing some songs and do a few Halloween chants, we have center time.


After lunch, recess and rest time, we get down to business and have our real Halloween Party.
