I realize this won't affect many people, but it does show things are different now. People are starting to see the problems of over filling landfills in California. I see many people bringing bags back to the grocery stores and bringing their own bags to grocery shop.
The Los Angeles City Council voted and plastic bags are banned from grocery stores beginning July 1, 2010 and retail store by 2012. If you don't bring a bag, then expect to pay .25 for each bag you use, so I am certain I'll always bring my bags.
I know many people aren't in favor of the high charge, but it will reduce the number of bags that are being tossed on the ground everywhere and landing in the power lines. It will pay for the bags, as paper bags are more costly for the store, then the plastic bag.
I know large families are mad because they would pay more than me, as my family is small, but there are many stores offering a free bag when you spend a certain amount. I certainly have trouble spending the amount needed to get the bag, but large families can easily get bags free.
Do you bring bags when you shop? Paper or plastic do you hear those words still? Should all states use reusable bags now?
