Every Spring Break, we hop in the car and drive! Never know where we will go or end up! I've seen lots of country and amazing things because of those trips! The Grand Canyon, Mexico, Chicago Zoo, Mount Rushmmore, Indian dwellings and so much more!
Neat contest. I've always wanted to see the UK, especially Scotland, Ireland, or the English countryside.
I'd be happy just to go see my boy in MD, too! West Virginia and Big Sky Country (Montana) would also be cool.
The first and foremost is a trip on a cruise. The seem so luxiourious with having to dress up for dinners .. man I would even have to get a whole new wardrobe just to travel on a cruise...
The other would be a week long trip to Hawaii. It is beautiful there and I do not think you woudl be able to get me to leave...lol
That’s what the world has that New Jersey doesn’t: only from outside can you look back
The people of Costa Rica are so wonderful, so nice - I hope to make more friends with the "tico's" next time I am there.
I would love to travel to Jamaica, which is where my husband and is family is from. I do not want to go on a normal Jamaican resort vacation, but instead travel all over the country to discover the mountains, the waterfalls, the orchids, the old sugar cone plantations and all hidden gems.
If I could, I would travel around the world, stopping on each continent. Then I'd do it again.
Since I was a child, I have wanted to go to South Africa to teach. I want to vacation in Italy, and would love to live in Greece for a time. I would like to go "out west" in America. I'd like to spend some time in Alaska as well. I would love to join peace corps or another charity organization and go into third world countries to help in any way I can. These are only a few of the places I would like to visit. I believe diversity and exposure to the cultures of others helps us appreciate and understand our selves and our interaction with others - and is one of the greatest opportunities to learn and develop who we are.
France is one choice. Although I was just there last May, I want to go back. I want to really learn the country and the language.
Another choice is Antarctica because wow. To see penguins in their natural habitat. To see an entire country of ice and snow. It's beyond my experience, even living in Minnesota.
Or how about Thailand? Yes, it's a place I've already experienced, but unfortunately I returned home from that country on a stretcher, having been in an accident. I'd like to return and relive those good moments as a Peace Corps Volunteer.
Good luck to everyone. I'm afraid this book would just launch me into a world of daydreams!
I would also like to visit all 50 states. I have been to over half of them. I will make it to the rest of them someday.
I would also love to visit more of the United States. I have never been west of Mississippi or north of New York. I would love to visit the west coast.....
Now that I've waken up from my dream...you can send me to Florida and introduce me to Mickey. He's about as close to a romance I'll ever get to...rofl!!!
I love a good journey!
I've been 'round the world, yet there are oh sooo many more places to go, people to meet, and sites and sights still left to be seen!
Where oh where should I go next???
... lately my dreams have been visions of the red robed Maasai herding their cattle and goats across the sweeping savanah of the Serengeti as the untamed herds of antelope, elephants, giraffs, wander from one waterhole to the next, and leopards, lions, hyennas watch for stragglers to catch for dinner. I hear the sing-song lilt of Kiswahili wafting on the hot breeze, mixing with the scent of spices and perfumes from Zanzibar, which I can almost see in the east from the snow capped top of Kilimanjaro. ...
... other nights, the barge slips slowly along, just off shore from the monkey filled trees along the deep Tanganyika, following the path of David Livingstone, to Lake Malawi and then on to the Zambezi and Victoria Falls ...
I imagine the chaotic frenzy of the markets, the serenity of vast empty countryside, the cacophony of colourful birds amongst the jungle canopy. Some places will pulse with the beat of tribal drums, some will be the beating of hundreds, maybe thousands, of hooves stampeding across the plains, and others are golden strands of sand beaten by thundering waves while just beyond there are coral reefs that team with schools of unimagineable fish.
I dream ...
Deep and dark.
Cosmopolitian and urbane.
Wild and untouched.
Frenzied and serene.
Yes, I dream of ... Afrika!
I would love to visit the southern rural area of China, and discover for myself exactly what - and who - it was that my daughter fell so deeply in love with.
Maybe next year?
I would love to go to Ireland and Norway...
I have gotten to the point in our family history where my great great grandfather came over from Ireland on a ship called the Sunbeam that landed in Boston Harbor, then I am stuck...I know he sailed from Dublin, but that is all.
So..."someday" I want to go to Ireland and work more on the family tree.
Also, a great great grandmother came from Norway, according to my Father, we have cousins there...but he had never met them. When I was young he taught me to count to ten in Norwegian.
Both of these ancestors are on my Father's side of the family. Wouldn't it be so cool, to walk where they walked? To find distant relatives? To see some of the country they grew up in? *sigh* "someday"
They came thru Ellis Island and settled in Queens but I remember telling their wonderful stories about the old country including fierce pride of Italian culture including opera and art. Plus, all the delectable food.
I'd love to see where my "roots" have started along with the beautiful churches, museums, and regional food.
