TOP STORIES 10-30-2008: America's GDP shrinks in third quarter; Obama airs extended primetime campaign ad; Will McCain's latest bogeyman stick?; Philies win World Series; American Express cutting 7,000 jobs - A government report out today shows that America's gross domestic product (GDP) shrank by 0.3% in the third quarter of 2008. That's the biggest quarterly decline in seven years.
- The Obama Campaign showed a half-hour campaign ad during primetime last night. At an estimated cost of $3-4 million, the ad appeared on FOX, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, BET, Univision, and TV One. Does anyone know how many people tuned in?
- For their part, the McCain-Palin ticket seems to be banking their last minute election hopes on linking Obama to Rashid Khalidi, a Columbia University professor who McCain and Palin accuse of having worked for the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO). They are accusing the LA Times (which recently endorsed Obama) of suppressing a videotape that supposedly shows Obama attending a dinner for Khalidi in 2003. CNN did a "Fact check" on their connection.
- The Philadelphia Phillies won their 2nd World Series ever last night, besting the Tampa Bay Rays in 5 games. The last (and only other) time they won the Series was in 1980.
- American Express announced this morning that they plan to cut 7,000 jobs in order to cut costs amid the global credit crisis.

"Paybacks are HELL Tampa Bay!" says Devil.
Yeah, I thought Tampa may have ticked off the Devil by dropping his name-drop from their team name.
I read that including the cable networks, it was around 30 million actually. I have a feeling that it didn't draw a whole lot of undecideds, though. Probably mostly people who already love him or hate him.
