I took some photographs of some beautiful clouds that we had here in Sonoma County the other day and, after downloading them into my computer, I noticed a strange object in several of them...
It appears as a small, spherical-shaped dot -- greenish-blue or turquoise in color -- that seems to be stationary or, in other words, one that stays in the same place in the sky:

Above: A collage of four different photos of the clouds that I took the other day, pointing out the strange, greenish-blue, spherically-shaped object that seems to stay in one place in the sky.
Below: The same four shots uncropped but re-sized (for posting ease) where you can make out that same object.

I don't claim to know exactly WHAT the object is... I just thought it was "interesting"...

It COULD be, Rob! Who knows?
I'd be most interested, too, Patricia...:o)
Hmmm... I thought that - at FIRST -- too, Alison... But it didn't MOVE... and a "turquoise" satellite??? 8^s
A good thought, Amy, but I'd be interested in knowing how a balloon could simply hang suspended without moving in the air like that... plus -- there was quite a bit of breeze blowing...
That'd be cool, wouldn't it, Claudia? ;o)
I thought so, too, tw...
And that's what I thought immediately, too, Anita... Doesn't explain the strange COLOR, though, does it? :^s
You and me BOTH, Dee!
The following may or may NOT have anything to do with the "object" I took photos of but it's strange to me that BOTH of these articles mention the "lights" being "GREEN" in color! Both of these articles are from our local newspaper, The Press Democrat. The first article is dated Sunday, the 26th (the day after I took the photos above on Saturday) but is talking about events that happened on Saturday -- and the other is dated Monday, the 27th.

Callers contacted U.S. Coast Guard stations on the California coast late Saturday night about a bright green light in the sky, some fearing it was a boat distress signal.
It was apparently remnants of a meteor shower, said Coast Guard officials. “I saw in the northwest sky a meteor, or something, fall from the sky with such intensity that I have never seen before,” wrote reader Joseph Stone in an email to the newspaper. “It was an intense bright green and it fell very, very quickly,” Stone wrote.
He said he was driving west, just after 11 p.m. when he saw the light to his right. “It was quite startling. I have never seen anything like this ever before.”
At the Bodega Bay station, a few calls came in at about 11 p.m. and Coast Guard members on a boat on the water also reported seeing the show. “We received a couple reports, somebody thought they saw a flare,” said Petty Officer Taylor Smith, at the Bodega Bay station.
The Coast Guard boat looked to see if there were any boats in trouble, but found none, officials said.
Coast Guard officials contacted San Francisco’s Coast Guard station and were told they too were getting calls.“They also were receiving similar reports throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and San Pablo Bay,” Smith said.
A Coast Guard officer in San Francisco Sunday said that station had calls from Bodega Bay to Monterey reporting green lights in the sky.The sightings coincided with reports of a meteor shower expected to be seen over some days starting last week.

The agency said it reviewed expected astronomical events and believed the lights were from a meteor shower that started last week.
Santa Rosa Junior College Planetarium Director Ed Megill said the lights likely were from an "Orionid" meteor shower.

Plainly, the object in my photos could NOT be a "meteor" since it DOES NOT MOVE as a meteor would across the sky. HOWEVER, there's nothing that PROVES the eye-witness accounts that were cited in the P.D. above were "meteors", EITHER! It's just very odd to me that these people described the objects they saw as "green", too! I've seen TONS of meteors and meteor showers and NEVER have they appeared to be "green" in color!!!

Sometimes the beauty of something can lie in its inexplicability.
This is very, very TRUE, Pat!
You could very well be right, Allan... Nonetheless, it's still kind of "exciting", no? :o)
Blessings and best wishes - S.
By the way, meteors can be green sometimes. I've seen them. The chemical composition of the meteor can affect the color. But whatever this is, it's not a meteor either...
