Everyone seems to be talking about these lately and trying to figure out who is legit and who isn't. In fact, M.C. did an article yesterday asking about this very thing. Here's the link he provided, Legitimate Work at Home Jobs.
I know I've spent a couple of years looking at all sorts of schemes, ideas, businesses - you name it. While there may be plenty of other legitimate businesses out there, I have found one where you can get freelance writing work as well as computer programming, design, and even voice over work. It's called oDesk. It works like a marketplace where your skills are matched with an employers needs. Usually, what happens is that you are sent a daily email with a list of available jobs based on your chosen criteria. If you like one, you apply. If you meet the employer's specifications (according to your posted profile, tests you have taken, an online or telephone interview, etc,) then you are hired. It is very professional and safe. Once you are hired, you do the work as described by the employer; you are paid through oDesk; and oDesk takes its fee from the employer, not you. I have worked for several clients this way: one for several months, and one on four repeat projects. I have always gotten paid and it has always been satisfactory.
I do have a referral link for you to use, but I will tell you that I will not get anything out of it until you make your first $1000.00. No joke. This is serious business. Hope this may help some of you who could use some extra income. It may take a bit to get rolling, but then you'll be turning down jobs. Don't forget, of course, that you will be working as an independent contractor and thus will be responsible for self-employment tax at the end of the year, so keep good records.
