I need some help with airline tickets for my son in the military...

If he thinks Thanksgiving is tough, wait til Christmas memories come into play. Plan accordingly. Flights ON any specific holiday sometimes show a savings.

do any airlines have specials for military service members? I am not sure but that might get you cheaper tickets

I'm not sure about discounts, but you can get airline miles donated by some organizations for military. Do a search for it. Also, Live on MSN has a way to get airline miles by searching and playing games.

Dawn, have you checked www.bluestarmothers.org? They could have some information about discounts for military or check to see if there is a local chapter that may have information or be able to help in some way. Ask about groups that donate flight miles for military. If you go this route and can't get information right away, please send me mail and I'll post it on our local chapters here in Baton Rouge, Houma and St. Francisville, see if they know of any groups to help. Don't give up and don't wait too long! I'm sure there are ways to get discounted tickets for military coming home on leave!

Where is he stationed? If he is near a spaceA gateway he may be able to get a "hop", it's usually free and offered by the AMC or Navy, there is a charge for (patriot) express flights, but it's just taxes.
They don't list the spaceA's online anymore since 9-11 but you should be able to find a list of the gateways and see if there are any close to him. He then just has to call, see if any flights are going out on the days he needs and have himself put on the spaceA list.
Hopefully he'll be home for Thanksgiving!

no could not find anything and he talked me into that it was ok, that he and some of his friends had some things planned so i let it go and was just going to wait for xmas to get here to see him....well thanksgiving day came and he was all alone, i cried my eyes out for him. i know he was so lonely, he told me he wished he had just spent all that money and gotten a plane ticket and came home. i talked to him and we booted up the web cams, we were both trying to be strong but i know that we both cried ourselves to sleep that night. he kept saying 20 more days, 20 more days. that was the first holiday we have ever been apart. i know there will be more but hes only 18 and it was hard. just dont understand the military and everything, those boys and girls are out there putting there lives on the line for all of us and they have to pay for plane tickets and phone cards just to see or talk to there families. doesnt make sense to me at all!
