Tulsa Zoo has been dubbed as "A Zoo For All Seasons." Their doors have been open since 1928. This zoo supports conservation & educational programs locally and internationally. I visited this zoo a couple of times for something different to do while I was attending college there.
Beginning each spring, kids of all ages can enjoy up-close encounters in the Children's Interactive Zoo. Other seasonal activities include: a Polar Bear Days that happens during the months of January and February. Plus, Summer Safaris and HallowZooeen, which offers a safe place for kids to go trick-or-treating.
There are eighty-four beautiful landscaped acres and it's great for private events like kids birthday parties. More than 5,000 animals, representing almost 450 species, and approximately 20 of these species are considered rare and endangered.
Some of the attractions within this zoo are featured at the reptile and animal nursery. It's stocked with fish, birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, and plants. These are just some of the exhibits that you will see in this section. Some of the aquariums include a host of sharks, eels, and exotic fishes.
They also have the standard cultural exhibits like lions, tigers and bears. Oh my! Lions, tigers and bears. Oh my!!! Lions, tigers and b... Oops! That's another story...isn't it? Okay...let's move on... There are also elephants, chimpanzees, cheetahs that you will see racing across the horizon, giraffes, sea lions and otters enjoying their natural habitats.
Of course, there are interactive displays, and a tropical rain forest. Oh!! I couldn't possibly name everything that this zoo has to offer. But I will keep trying...
Then you have rides, eateries, and shops till you drop opportunities! Their gift shops are stocked with unusual items, Tulsa Zoo souvenirs and wild collectibles! Watch it! They these venues are like vacuums. They are intended to suck your wallet clean! But that's okay...that's what Zoo's are for...huh?
So...if you happen to be in Tulsa...step into the "Wild Kingdom" at the Tulsa Zoo and join in on the adventure! It's great for all ages and the prices are very reasonable. The zoo is located right off highway 11 and I-244.
