Do you have any experiences with restaurant.com?

I have see some great deals for those gift cards they offer there and I am just wondering if there is any catch there or why are they so cheap?

Does any of you, use those cards before? Is there any exp. date on them and how do you use them? Do you use them the same way as any other gift cards?

I have used some of their stuff, but you do have to be careful. I bought one gift certificate and then got there and they didn't accept it. I contacted restaurant.com though and they refunded my money. Most of the ones on their are just not well known.

a lot of restaurants offer special deals via restaurants.com in hopes of generating some business that they might not be able to otherwise! many of my friends use them! not sure whether they expire or not though!

I'm not sure why the restaurant wouldn't have accepted it unless you didn't the minimum purchase amount. The restaurants on restaurant.com have signed up with them to allow the use of the gift certificates so the only way they would be listed on restaurant.com is if they *asked* to be there.

Anyway, each certificate has a minimum purchase amount. For example, most $25 certificates have a $35 minimum check (which is no big deal for my family because our bill is at least $35 anyway).

Also, the certificates seem to all expire 1 year after purchase.

I've been tempted to use it, but never had.

Another restaurant savings you might try is checking out your local television stations. Several here give away half-price gift certificates every Tuesday for a certain restaurant. These are good for 12 months. I think I'm going to try to get a few for Christmas gifts.

We are using them, even when the restaurant is not on their list anymore, as long as the gift card is not expired yet, you can always ask if they are accepting those when calling for reservation. We have found some nice restaurants with it, of course some restaurants are better than the others.

I always wondered about it too. I've never used it myself, but my mom just told me yesterday that she had ordered a gift card from there for me. So I'll be checking it out when it gets here.

I have used them several times. They don't expire in California. The certificate does have some requirements, as the one I ordered recently you must order $50 excludes tax, tips, or alcohol. Its no good on Saturday or Sunday. It will be challenging for us to use it, but figured it still will be a really nice special meal. Its $25 off $50,so can eat for less than $30 and have enough food left for another meal easily.

I now have one to a place that will no longer accept it. Restaurant.com wants me to select another certificate, so going up there shortly.
