Matt Drudge has no reputation to preserve. He is a blogger, putting out rumors. He does not have to verify it, he is not expected to, and nobody cares. Simply put, bloggers are just out there to put out what people are talking about. Everybody knows what to expect, this is not journalism.
Not McCain.
McCain camp repeats everything Matt Drudge says. They take it at face value. There are numerous examples. Last Thursday, a girl said she was attacked by a 6'4" black man who stole her money and carved the letter B on her face. Who can fault Drudge for putting that out? It happened, the girl lied, and Drudge is not in the business of sending a reporter down, asking the police questions to see where the story is going. They simply reported what the girl said, without getting an update from the police who already knew the story was not credible.
John McCain and Sarah Palin called the girl and spoke with her. McCain surrogates were on TV, plugging in the story when asked about other questions. The MSM sent reporters and were investigating. Not FOX. Their executive VP for News was out making ludicrous statements.
What do you do when you are short in cash like McCain? Feed off Drudge, and have Fox feed of you and Drudge, and feed back off of Fox.
There is McCain entire's recycling program.

BOYCOTT!!!
Alan D,
Why are you so scared of FOX? There are 400 million people in this country and only 5 million watch FOX.
Think Brother. 5 million watch it a night. Not the same 5 million people over and over. Too hard for you to comprehend?
when it was discovered she was lying.
That is OK, all this stuff is just boosting Obama's chances to win,
and McCain's chances to lose.
There should not be any question as to why Obama is so far ahead in the polls.
Jared,
I agree w/ your article. However, Alan D fears of FOX is overblown. I do not believe we will have a FOX induced revolution anytime soon.
"Not the same 5 million people over and over. Too hard for you to comprehend?"
Disagree. The majority of FOX's audience are repeat viewers.
Alan D,
Sorry, I see someone running scared. You are paying way too much attention to FOX to simply dislike them.
You could be right depending on where you put that majority cutoff. Bottom line 5 million is a lot of people when we are talking about voters.
Jerry, he is not that far ahead.
This is just my little tidbit but a closed mind is a terrible thing to lose because you won't even know it.
Americans like to get their news through the prism of of people who hold similar views. They (we) don't want to be challenged. That is dangerous.
Nonetheless, what FOX is doing is jumping the gun in promoting their bias.
Wrong. He is a news aggregator, and it is worth noting that he is a power house in the industry -- most journalists go to his page to see what's going on.
C-Span is the best source for politics. Original, uninterupted, fair....
Andy Sullivan is a news aggregator/blogger. Want to defend Sullivan as well?
I watch Faux Noise/Limpaugh/savage once in awhile so I can debunk my repub co-workers who think it's the word of God.
Silly guys, I slaughter them with the truth.
The right has this habit of diverting the subject to something else that everyone agrees on and make it sound like the other side disagrees on. Nobody is after freedom of speech.
Air America failed so let's shut up the right completely via governmental mandate:

My beef over the whole thing is that conservative talk radio DOES have competition -- NPR which is clearly left-leaning bias and is funded by both the left and the right through tax dollars. I listen and I also donate even more funds because I love classical music and I do listen to all viewpoints. When was the last time Rush or Ingraham got federally funded dollars? It's not to say that I agree with these people but I listen to them also. If you look at this situation logically and objectively it clearly shows how frightened people can be when something is aired that you don't agree with. Isn't our freedom of thought and expression the reason our country was founded? We are truly living in scary times if the First Amendment becomes eroded and meaningless because people no longer care to hear what they don't agree with.
As far as irresonsible reporting goes, look no further than the NY Times. Everyone is guilty on both sides. As far as bloggers go? Huffington is just as bad as Drudge. But if you begin siding with one or the other everything is lost and everyone loses.
Lady Raven,
I hear what you are saying.
