After a two-week search, I found the perfect costume. He just tried it on yesterday and he was a little uncertain at first; it appeared the costume might be a little snug.

After he got used to it, however, it looked like the costume was MADE for him! It fit him like an absolute glove. He got cocky and tried out his "deer in the headlights" impression. I thought he was spot-on!

He thought he'd get fully into character and wear his costume around the yard, doing what Bambi would do. He ate some grass, ate some ground cover, ate some maple tree...

He got a little too into character, however, when he ate my geraniums.

I had to yell at him to spit the flowers out or lose his trick-or-treating privileges entirely. In retaliation, the little booger actually stuck his tongue out at me! I had to remind him that BAMBI would never DO that sort of thing. (Sigh)

He thought he heard some of his friends snickering next door when he got in trouble, but it turned out to be some ducks in the lake (thank goodness).

He was sure glad his buddies hadn't heard him getting a scolding. He was also thrilled that they hadn't seen his spiffy new Halloween costume yet. He couldn't wait to surprise them when they all went trick-or-treating. He was so excited about it that he was overcome with joy and started jumping into the air and whinnying...

I didn't want to break it to him that Bambi didn't whinny. He was one happy dog. ;D

The deer sticking her tounge out was priceless, and I love that last picture of the deer prancing!
you got some great shots!
Angela--Let's trade! :D
Martha--We get a lot of deer cruising through this area, but we don't see a lot of little spotted fawns. This little guy was soooooo cute and he had no fear. I was taking photos for about 10-15 minutes or so, as they ate their way through our front yard, over through our side yard and on to the neighbor's. I stood in my side yard, maybe as close as 25 feet from the fawn, and it was acting as if it wanted to come and play with me! It was wild as mom was oblivious and just kept eating. The baby kept coming toward me and then backing off, coming toward me and backing off. It was amazing. I was glad I got so many shots out of it. :D
Great pictures and a wonderful story.
George--I didn't say that..... ;)
;-)
MJ--Godzilla.... Didn't he step on poor, unsuspecting, innocent little Bambi??

Loved the whole showing and telling!
