Scenes from Quincy, Ma

I am back in Massachusetts for a whirlwind week at work. Today was going to be a 12 hour day but I was able to steal away for a short while this afternoon to see what I could find with my camera.

President's Church - John Adams and John Quincy Adams are both buried there.

 

Quincy is known for its granite - this is the reflection in a globe made of polished granite. 

 More reflections - this time of my favorite subject.

 

Fall leaves carpeted the ground of the small and very old cemetery in the heart of Quincy.

This chubby little fellow was busy getting ready for the cold, Northern winter.

Hopefully I will be able to find the time for a few more short outings while I am here.

I haven't even been home two full weeks yet and you are making me miss the place. Sheesh. I couldn't been out shooting with you. (Nice pictures though)

Tonia, I really loved seeing Quincy through your eyes this way. Since I couldn't be there, it's the next best thing. I like the globe shot. What a find that headstone was! Letters are still so clear.

Great shots, Tonia! I loved how you framed the church thru the spikes of purple sage (?) blossoms.

I see this photoessay as an ode to the seasons, each photo flowing into the next, seamlessly... the still summery flowers play against the colorful leaves and trees of autumn leading to a wintry headstone--- the dying of the seasons, celebrating life... in anticipation of what's to come thru a lively squirrel who knows spring will come, inevitably.

Thanks for the walk, Tonia! I really like the shot of the reflection in the polished granite. you won't get any walking today, looks like; the forecast is for rain all day. And tomorrow the high temp won't even make it to 50º; better bundle up!

12 hour days can be a bitch! I wish you could sneak an outing to Carver but it sounds like you are extremely busy.

bob - I would truly love to cruise down your way but it is just not going to happen this time around. I've extended my stay in order to see an intensive training effort through and it is consuming all my time.
