That is about as grim as anything I've ever heard. At times I've wondered, if she hadn't committed suicide, would her name or her poems be remembered? I think so.
This poem brings many more questions than it answers.

You're right, Wilhelmine- it is dark. But I thought it was neat to hear her read her own poem in honor of her birthday today.

Thanks for sharing. Plath had an amazing voice. She was one of the first to speak of women's anger, bless her heart. She was a comfort to me as well.

A psychologist would have a field day with her choices of men, based on this poem.

I agree with both your comments, JM. I think it's so special to be able to hear a poet or an author read their own work. And yes, I'm sure she would have been a psychologist's dream.
