What are your plans for Election Day?

Election Day is a mere 8 days away now.  After all the political drama over the past few months, many people are about ready to see the day finally arrive.  Election fatigue has hit some, while others may be counting down the minutes.

I hadn't given it much thought until today, but I remembered that one of my civil service friends (a juvenile probation officer) has the day off.  A few weeks ago we made plans to get together for lunch and watch the early reports on tv.  Then I realized that Nov. 4th will mean something to me, no matter which way the election swings.  Either I will be celebrating (think New Year's Eve) or writing depressing poetry or long-winded blogs on Gather.

So what are your plans for Election Day? Will it be just another day or will you be on Gather, in front of the tv watching voting numbers roll in, or trying to hide from it all?

It will be just another day for me. I'll walk a couple doors down to the school behind me and vote, then go grocery shopping and just do my every day routine. The candidate who is getting my vote doesn't stand a chance at winning, so I don't care about the returns. I'll hear enough about it on the news the next morning.

I think I will make some brownies and settle in to be on gather during the day and glued to the tv that night. I voted Friday so I don't have to be out on the 4th.

I've already voted and live in Canada at the moment so it will just be like any other day...except at night when I can tune in the US and watch with everyone else.

I already voted. On election day, I will either work the polls as a bi-lingual aide, or I will work central count in the evening, depending on where they need me.

I will go vote as I usually do. Dont vote, cant gripe. Thats what I have always been told.
But, the more I hear about the delegates , picking up the votes from the electorial college. The more ticked off I get. so our vote dont really count. I didnt vote for these people who dont go by the public vote, they vote however they dang well please. Sometimes I think like a few others why waste my time. Popular vote dont count anymore.

Thanks for posting everyone. It looks like there will be some Gatherers that evening and I think it will be interesting to watch as the votes come in.

I am hoping to vote this week. The early voting lines here are still really long and it's hard to wait for hours with a 3 year old. If I can't get in for early voting, I'll wait until Election Day. I've never seen a long line at my polling place, so it shouldn't be too bad. Then I will probably be on Gather and the phone watching tv at night.

Voting either this week or Tuesday. If I go Tuesday, it will be at an elementary school about two blocks from me (I'm hoping I'm subbing there so I can show the kids what the process looks like.). Will watch returns that evening.

Robin, I sent in an absentee vote for Barack Obama - and I'll be flying back from Lafayette, La. to Santa Barbara, CA on that date - so that's what I'll be doing - then when I get there, I'll watch the election returns and hopefully be celebrating Barack's victory!!!! Salud

We have already voted absentee. My parents are concerned that there may be riots on election day, so we might pick them up and bring them up here to stay for a few days.
We all remember the Detroit race riot in 1967.

Voting at lunch time then working till 5 then home to tv/NPR results...it Will be a relief to get done with it but i hope we actually know the presidential results by Nov 5!

It will be another work day for me. I do not plan to change my daily routine, other than having CNN on mute ~ usually I dont have the television nor radio on, because of the distraction.
But, it is an important day ~ and one worthy of keeping an eye on the updating news. Sounds as though your plans are good ones ~ wish you well ~j

No state-by-state exit polls for me. I don't have a TV and wouldn't watch it if I did. I'll read about it the next morning. No hurry.
We're going to vote and then we've got many other things to do that day, so we'll be doing them and also keeping watch as the polls come in.
