I am trying to get my Detroit Zoo photos up still. I took way too many photos...LOL.
.
This is the big watertower that sits outside the zoo. Everytime Detroit gets a new mayor, the watertower gets repainted. I was just about under it when I took the shot, since that's where we parked.

Lots of Canadian geese stop by the lake that's in the middle of the zoo.

This painted tiger was inside one of the buildings. I don't know if there were more of them at some point, but this is the only one we found.

Pher really hates it when I have him stop and pose for photos. LOL The expressions I usually get are priceless though.

Everett will pose for me though.

Don't you hate it when you've got an itch on your leg?

The flamingos were beautiful....and there are 2 different kinds at the zoo. Notice the peacock in the background? Peacocks seem to be everywhere...and sometimes they do escape. Growing up, we've had them walking down our street.

The red panda -- it was difficult to get a good shot. He was trying to keep hidden in the trees.

I think he's considered the biggest rodent in the world.

The giant anteater is just beautiful....and so big!

The lions weren't doing anything but sleeping....not that I blame them. I could use 40 winks myself.

The aardvark is such an interesting creature. I had to get a few shots of them.

I'm not sure what they were digging for....ants maybe?

River otters are unique, aquatic mammals native to Michigan. Once on the brink of extinction, the river otter population is now making a comeback thanks to protective laws and breeding programs. The Detroit Zoo's Edward Mardigian, Sr. River Otter Habitat is home to two river otters. Of coarse we only saw one....and only his head...LOL. He was sleeping the whole time we were there.

Here's the shot of the watertower I took the next day....see how foggy it was. I'm also happy to report that the Mayor of Detroit, Kwame Kilpatrick, resigned (and may be put in jail?). Perhaps the next time I get to Michigan, the watertower will have been repainted.

Love that watertower!
And the kids and I always have to get some shots in those things where the head is cut out and you can slip your head inside. They're so cool!
