Bob Barr Believes John McCain is on his Farewell Tour

While most of the media is focused on the Republican and Democrat presidential candidates and their running mates, many may forget that Bob Barr, the Libertarian candidate is still in the running. The numbers will not add up to a win for Barr, but there are a fair number of Republicans who want their voice heard by voting for Bob Barr.

One of Bob Barr's latest press releases, posted on his website, refers to the John McCain campaign as a "farewell tour." Barr, himself has publicly voiced his opinion that McCain cannot win. Some may say that this is Barr's attempt to get votes. Others may heed his call and pass their McCain vote over to Barr based on their own conscience or political ideology. Barr's stated opinion can be summed up by his statement, "A vote for McCain is a wasted vote."

Will Republicans who are disillusioned with the current McCain campaign give their vote to Barr? How likely is it that independent voters or disenchanted Democrats will look Barr's way with their vote? What do you think?

There may be some that vote for Barr because they simply don't want to vote for a democrat.

Interesting article! I went to an Iowa campaign picnic for Steve Forbes (back in 2000, I think) and Bob Barr was also there. The Libertarian Party helped defeat Barr's Senatorial bid once, so maybe he is paying them back? He is hard to figure out. I'm planning to vote for Chuck Baldwin (Constitution Party), especially since Ron Paul endorsed him. I think Barr wants to hog the whole third-party spotlight, but I don't know how well it is working. Dr. Paul got some of the third-party candidates to sign a general agreement, but I think in the future they need to rally around a single candidate. It's been a very interesting but frustrating campaign so far. At least I've found a way to repurpose all my Ron Paul signs by building things out of them (like a yard swing cover, and a lap desk)! Thanks for posting this and I hope others explore the alternatives out there!!

Robin, I surely hope so. I am a Registered Republican since 1967 and have voted for the Democrats since 1978. I expect to vote for Barr. A vote from someone of either party will send a loud and clear message: that there are many many Americans who are sick to death of the corruption of both parties, the Fascists and the Socialists. Liberty, freedom, the Constitution all being sold down the river....EQUALLY by both parties.
