These pictures were taken October 2007 in Independence Ks. Every year around Halloween this annual celebration is held. There are all sorts of events including a musical put on by local citizens, a concert by a big act such as the Oakridge Boys, a queen coronation ceremony featuring area high school girls, a carnival, bands playing on the streets, food vendors and a parade.
I was part of the Queen competetion and in the parade 30 years ago. Last year my 30 year high school reunion was held at the same time all the Neewollah festivities were going on. It was a lot of fun to be back in the small Kansas town again with all the excitement of the reunion as well as all the fun things going on. It sure did not feel like it had been 30 years since the last time I had been at Neewollah.
