Table Rock State Park is a beautiful upcountry retreat at the edge of the Blue Ridge Escarpment. The view is just breathtakingly beautiful. Cherokee Indians once inhabited this area. From this state park you can hike to the top of Table Rock Mountain and Pinnacle Mountain which is nearby. Table Rock Mountain is 3,124 feet and Pinnacle Mountain is 3,425 feet. They both begin at the trail-head (1,160 feet) at the park's nature center. A two mile trail connect the two mountains, completing a 10 mile network. It takes the average hiker five or six hours to make the seven mile trek to the top of Table Rock and back. If this is too much for you there is a less challenging two mile loop where you can see a waterfall view. There is also a waterfall along the Pinnacle Mountain Trail for the serious hikers. Needless to say, at our age we are not what you would call serious hikes, but the views we were able to take in were wonderful. I think there is something in this area for everyone, but I sure would have like to been able to hike and see these views for myself.
Here are some photos from Table Rock State Park from our visit October 7, 2008.

The day was slightly overcast but the clouds hovering over the mountains was really pretty.

Pinnacle Lake

Beauty Berry bushes were everywhere.
