CNBC.com ran this report on October 23. According to a poll conducted by ATI-News / Zogby, "...a clear majority of undecided voters disagree with Obama's plan for wealth redistribution in America."
CNBC quotes ATI-News president Brad O'Leary as saying, "The major issue on voters' minds right now is the economy, and the major voting bloc on candidates' minds right now is the undecided voter. Our poll results show that undecided voters overwhelmingly reject Obama's economic plan to redistribute wealth."
The poll was conducted over a four day period, October 17 to October 20, and surveyed just over 1,200 likely voters. The margin of error was listed at 2.9 percentage points. The poll question: "John McCain and other critics say Barack Obama is heavily influenced by people and organizations which seek social justice through redistribution of wealth in America. Do you agree or disagree with efforts to bring social justice by the redistribution of wealth?"
Poll results revealed that 57 percent of undecided voters said they disagreed and 24 percent said they agreed. Nearly 20 percent were not sure. Among independents, 52 percent disagreed and 39 percent agreed.
Leary is also quoted in the report as saying, "In his candid conversation with ‘Joe the plumber,' Obama made clear that his main economic goal is to redistribute wealth, not strengthen and grow our economy. This is pure socialism, albeit thinly veiled, and it does not resonate with hard-working Americans who would rather keep their money than have Obama redistribute it to his favorite constituencies."

Oh thank goodness!
If we are going to look at poles lets look at them all. The majority of those show Obama in the lead. People may not like the plan but the majority of people seem to be voting for him none the less.
Sometimes I just like to try to get a reaction out of people. It's surprisingly easy here on Gather.
BUT, I didn't like it when someone told me once that no daycare provider should ever be able to charge more than 35 dollars per week because people need daycare and we are robbing them. If I did daycare for 35 dollars per week I'd have to find a way to support those kids as well as my own! I spend at least that or more every week just feeding those kids. Add the education and entertainment expenses my daycare racks up and I'd have to pay the parents for the privilege of watching their children.
My husband was not happy when he found out that the man that recently fixed a bunch of our cracked windows made roughly 400 dollars for about 9 hours worth of work. And yet, we have no idea how much he pays for the wear and tear on his truck, tools and how much he pays for advertising, taxes, insurance and I'm sure the list is nearly endless. It's so easy to just look at what we are paying and refuse to see the other persons side.
Do I think doctors should drive BMW's? Well if it were up to me we wouldn't even produce luxury cars, 300 dollar purses, 1000 dollar pantsuits and that list goes on and on too. It's wasteful and disgusting to me when people indulge themselves that much.
BUT, most people would not understand how much money I spend on animal rescue, electronic gadgets, and some might not understand why I tithe.
It's wrong to tell others what they can charge, how much money they can earn and it's just as wrong to try and redistribute the wealth others accumulate to make up for those that either aren't ambitions enough or smart enough or lucky enough to make as much money as the wealthier Americans do.
Where in the world does it stop? Someone on welfare may get to go and buy glasses for their children on my tax dollars. But when I had to buy 3 pairs of glasses for myself and my children I had to borrow the money. And yet my husband pays through the nose for health insurance and I pay a lot for deductibles and co payments. It's not fair that people in jail have better insurance than I do!
I am convinced that our politicians could find real solutions to the problems of this world without increasing our taxes and giving people an unfair handout and basically slapping the rest of us in the face for working hard everyday.
So no, I won't be voting for Obama. Any tiny shred of doubt I had and any desire I might have had at considering him ended when I heard what he said to Joe the Plumber.
"More wealth should go to the workers."
Whether they earn it or not?
The rich run congress, they make the laws and they are NOT going to change them to aid the people of America, just themselves. Also, do people really believe that congress is going to give this man that much power? The President signs bills into law, he DOES NOT make them! He can offer a plan, but congress comes up with the final bill. We need TOTAL change in both houses of Congress.
I do not believe in robbing the rich to give to the poor or lazy and I do not believe giving public tax money to corporate welfare either. If a person is no longer able to do a job they are told to hit the road and it should be the same rule for failed business.
The only way Obama can help the poor and homeless is to bring back our manufacturing jobs so people can have work, their is no fix for our depressed state unless we have jobs to support our economy.
Mandating wage levels (like a minimum wage) introduces artificial influence into the market. If you force a company to pay a cetain wage, they will either charge more for their products to make up for the increased cost, cut jobs to make up for the increased cost, or both.
Pick your poison.
We are a nation that touts our love of God... yet we love God less than we love our wealth, our selfish desires, and our ability to claim God backs our petty hatreds.
