Are you looking for Anchorage Alaska Jobs? Well I've got good news for you, as Alaska is a place with a lot of great opportunities for all types of engineers.
It wasn't always easy to attract quality engineers to work in Alaska, what with the state's long winters and dark daylight hours and relative lack of creature comforts. Even though there are a lot of things not to like about Alaska on the face of it, Alaska experienced tremendous growth in the second half of the 20th century, with cities such as Anchorage growing by as much as 13 times, due largely to engineering feats such as the securing of a clean, reliable, unfrozen water supply, increasing amounts of well-paved roads, and the implementation of gravity sewers. The primary source of heat before the Kenai gas pipeline was run was the floor stove, which had huge problems with flooding and overheating, leading to many fires- the pipeline provides a clean, safe, reliable source of energy to to the professional community working Alsakan jobs. Every single one of those projects required skilled engineers to plan, implement and execute.
Engineers are in high demand in Alaska; the state's environmental challenges ensure that there will always be engineering tasks to carry out. It's easy to see that engineers are in demand in Alaska- all you have to do is look at an industry publication, Engineering Association web site, or industry job board to see that qualified surveyors and engineers are always going to be in demand. Engineers within the industry are actually reporting that engineering firms are attempting to lure them away from their current jobs to go work in Alaska. This is just further evidence that engineering is a recession-proof job- engineers are always in demand, no matter the economic outlook!
The future outlook for Anchorage Alaska Jobs is rosy, if for nothing else than the fact that the Federal government is constantly increasing funds sent there to develop and acquire new sources of oil and natural gas. As a matter of fact, there's no drop off in the foreseeable future in the number of large-scale engineering operations that Alaska residents will take on in the near future, ranging from expanding existing transportation networks to building pipelines for oil and natural gas and of course, oilfield development. Among young people, engineering isn't really seen as a "cool" or desirable profession, so as older veteran engineers retire, there are fewer college graduates coming in behind them to take their jobs.
Along with Alaska's limited transportation and road system, there's a pretty extreme climate, too. All of Alaska's' difficult working conditions crystallize to forma need for increasingly ingenuous engineers- you won't be working in a cube; instead, you'll be out in the field on the cutting edge of design, earning the respect of those who understand the difficult challenges of working in Alaska.
