Barack Obama to Visit Ailing Grandmother

How very sad that you would criticize Sen. Obama for taking time out to be with his grandmother, the woman who raised him, the woman who worked hard all her life so that he could go to college and make something of himself. If you had read his biographies, you would understand how important his grandparents, especially his grandmother, is in his life.

Sen. Obama is taking time out at a crucial time in his campaign, and, true to form, McCain and his attack dogs (and cats) are using this window to step up their robocalls and rallies.

If you are wondering who gave you a "1" it is me.

Obama's Grandmothers birthday is Sunday. She is very ill but at home and fully aware and mentally there. This woman raised Obama, as he has said, she gave up her time and extras for his benefit. He is in the fight of his life for US, for this country, against smears, lies and attacks, yet he upholds an honorable campaign dealing with ISSUES only. I am sure he knows what is best, I trust his judgement, that he will be ableto spend time with his grandmother and celebrate her birthday.
FYI-John McCain rarely left Washington DC to be with his family in Arizonia...google it. His excuse was that "at least he was better than his father who was a lifer in the Military". Mean while his wife is alone, raising the family, taking drugs without his knowledge!
Do not judge people...till you walk in their shoes and know all the facts.

You guys can rate however you want but I still think that if my grandmother's health were failing and the doctors did't expect much longer, I'd have been on the first flight not wait two days.

I think it's good that he's going but to spend two days telling everyone he's going, I find it incredibly interesting and convenient that he waited two days to do interviews before leaving to see his grandmother.

I gave the article a 3. That's because I don't rate on the content. I think the content is worthless but the presentation is somewhere between a C- and a D. thus the 3.

He is going by what the doctors have told him. She may not have much longer to live, but it's not considered THE time, yet.

My Dad was given 6 months to live, and he lived exactly 6 months and one week. They called us the night he died to let us know he didn't have much longer and that, THAT night, was probably it. We had more time to say Good-Bye.

One of the things that confounds me the most, is how people who profess to be Christians can be so judgmental.

I was given a timeline of a couple of weeks before my grandfather passed away and that's what it was. Sorry Kimberly, I won't rate the post, but I think it's awful.

I think the post is awful and your judgment of Obama is off, but I did give you a 2 because it was more than one paragraph, the spelling was decent and the grammar was ok. Not the worst, but nowhere near the best.

Why is it that christians who say what they feel or

Kelly, what on earth are you thinking? Do you know that 200,000 people came to see Barack Obama speak in Berlin? They would be overjoyed to see him elected president of the United States because it would mean good news for democracy around the world. Why do you suppose they showed up? If Barack Obama is elected, you will see a much more compassionate government, a fairer and more equitable taxation system that benefits common, ordinary people, better education and health care for all people.

Barack Obama is a Christian -- he has worked for human rights causes his entire life. What makes you think he would go against God?

I cannot say who is Christian or not, that is between God and that person.
I only know what I feel and believe.
I do not believe in Abortion and Gay.
God knew each one of us when we were in our mother's womb.
I also know that you cannot truly say you're Christian
and think it's okay to kill innocent children.
Women should have that choice, I am not against that,
they have to live with that decision, and that is
between them and God.
I do not hold that against anyone.
We all Sin and we all know that when we sin
we ask God for His forgiveness.
I only know that the type of Democracy Obama
is talking about is not what I believe.
I believe in God and His plan.

Also, I don't think Obama needs sympathy votes and I don't think he's been fishing for them either. I've heard him asking us to think about the issues. I for one think we've been getting a lot more straight talk out of Obama/Biden than we have from McCain/Palin.

I believe she broke her hip.

That is usually not "the verge of dying" and yet certainly understandable, especially given her age, that Obama might visit her in these circumstances. So, no, I don't his behavior questionable at best or selfish at the least. I guess this really is silly season.

I think most people could empathize with anyone who has a loved one seriously ill. It is sad that you have to look for motive in this.

As I first suggested two years ago, Barack Obama will become the 44th President of the United States and I am ecstatic. It's time, it's my time, it's our time. Not to delve too deep philosophically here, but heed my words: "I cannot carry the world on my shoulders, but on my shoulders, it is my world that must carry me."

There is, or never has been, any indication that Obama's grandmother's condition is life threatening. It is not. Obama visited her for only one hour briefly during his vacation in Hawaii last summer, and he didn't visit her at all when she was in a Honolulu hospital last week.

So says Andy Martin, an anti-Obama columnist. He adds the real reason for Obama's emergency trip is to stop his (Martin's) pursuit of his birth records. This will also include an emergency writ to the Hawaii Supreme Court to request expedited handling after Martin's previous filing to demand that the State's Department of Health release the records.

"Obama did not pay any attention to his grandmother until I showed up in Honolulu," he wrote in an email. "Suddenly she is the center of his attention. She is so central to his campaign that he has suspended it! But when Obama was here last summer he only visited his grandmother for an hour. One hour! Now he suspends his campaign for her?"

Great article. I gave you a "10." I find your reasoning to be sound. Like you, if my grandmother were ill, I wouldn't let her stay in a hospital for a week before suddenly deciding to visit her. I would have spent more than an hour with her while on vacation there the past summer, as well. So, I agree, his sudden trip there is curious.

I don't believe; however, this is the grandmother that said Obama was born in Kenya. According to Obama's Kenyan (paternal) grandmother, as well as his half-brother and half-sister, Barack Hussein Obama was born in Kenya.

Hmmm, funny I heard he was going there to get his birth certificate from her to prove he was born in the US. And yes this is the grandmother that swears she saw him born there...

I didn't think anything of it at first either. But yesterday on Fox news I heard someone say something to the effect of a somber obama is walking outside of a modest apartment....blah, blah.... They were filming him looking all sad. The way that it was set up and the way it was said was so OBVIOUSLY being played up for the sympathy card. The only thing that was missing was the violins!

All the comments about why he was there and is there. ARE YOU THERE TO KNOW FIRST HAND? No you are not. If you don't like Barrack that's find that is your right but to sit on your computer and make judgment about thing you do no now first hand is a sin. Do not judge God will do that. He's already delivered his birth certificate and it's available on the web. It's her birthday and a lot of her family is coming to help her celebrate what will probably be her last.

From what I've heard on the news today, Obama is back already. Quick trip I guess. But then, the courts are closed today I would think. It is really curious that's for sure. I know that if my grandmother were in the same position as his, I would not be doing stuff as usual. This whole thing on the Obama's doesn't seem to be very mainstream to me. I wish his grandmother the best, but his judgement again, is in question.

I didn't understand this either, Kimberly. When my dad was in the hospital, it took us 30 minutes to pack up the car. There's no way we would have waited 2 days.

Yep, I think this was an opportunity for him to get some paperwork done. Grandma wasn't so important to him during his primary until he had to "come down" to the people. Then all of a sudden, Grandma came into the picture. The libs can cry foul all they want to, but Obama is a master policitian - I think he trumps Bill Clinton, and that's saying a lot. I mean, a whole lot. Good write-up Kimberly.

I have to say that i find it amazing he needs a legal team to visit his ailing grandmother, It is speculation that he was using ailing granny as an excuse to try to meet with his legal team to cover up anything about his birth certificate and the allegations hes not a natural born citizen of the US....he's got lawsuits on top of lawsuits dealing with this issue, in many different states by different people, one was dismissed. what about the others.

I think he's very selfish and a masterful politician who is very good at brainwashing the general public.
