All the hype over the release of the latest tween favorite High School Musical 3, has caused my, otherwise rather calm, 10 year-old daughter to resort to begging me to take her to see it tonight.
It's been going on all week. The surprise, "Look mom, I unloaded the dishwasher and you didn't even ask me" strategy, followed with the "by the way, can we go see HSM3 on Friday?" I have tried the "we'll sees," but it's Friday now and I believe I am stuck.
It's not that I don't want to see Zac Efron singing gushy teenage duets with Vanessa Hudgens...well maybe it is. This is the first HSM movie to make it to the big screen and before this sequel, I only had to listen to the neverending replays of the first 2 HSMs while they played on the TiVo in the other room. I could probably belt out most of the lyrics too, which confirms that songs can get stuck in your head, even from a safe listening distance.
So anyway, I compromised and agreed to the matinee show at 5 today. If I come back with more than one song in my head I may be in need of rescue.
Is anyone else in the same HSM3 sinking ship as I am today?

Here are some of the ways that I have tried to get around it. None of them worked:
1. What if we got the cat game for your ds? We could stay in and play that?
2. Why don't we have a slumber party and rent some movies for you and your friends to watch
3. Let's go to the mall and buy you a new outfit?
4. I'll bring home happy meals all next week.
5. You don't have to make your bed next week.
Finally: Please, please, please have mercy on me! I don't make you watch the news or court tv. Please, I beg of you, don't make me go!!!
