Malabar Farm PT. Two ~ The Big House

Earlier this month I visited Malabar Farm in Lucas, Ohio. Once the home of author Louis Bromfield, it is now a state park. Because funds for the purchase of the farm had been earned from books written about India, he decided it was fitting that the farm have an Indian name.

In his book Pleasant Valley he wrote

"We settled at last for Malabar, the name borne by the beautiful hill overlooking the harbor of Bombay and the name of the southwest coast of India, one of the most beautiful parts of the earth"

From this porch you can enjoy beautiful views in all directions. I'd love to have my morning coffee here.


Look straight on and you see


To your left you can see the barn and pasture


To the right is the pond



Visiting places like this always prompts me to suggest to my husband that we abandon our suburban digs and get back to the land. He just looks at me funny.

Quite scenic. I wonder if the house roof is made of tin? That it has an Indian name gives it more charm.
