In an interview on NBC Nightly News that aired Thursday, host Brian Williams asked Palin: "Governor, are you a feminist?"
"I'm not gonna label myself anything, Brian," she responded. "And I think that's what annoys a lot of Americans, especially in a political campaign, is to start trying to label different parts of America different, different backgrounds, different … I'm not going to put a label on myself. "
The vice presidential nominee said she believes in women's rights and equal rights. Palin went on to say that when she was growing up in Alaska, she "was expected to do the same thing that the guys were doing."
"I'm not going label myself feminist or not," she concluded, "but I do believe that American women can recognize in me an advocate and a friend. And I want to be in the White House for them."
But Palin gave a different answer in September when Katie Couric of CBS News asked her, "Do you consider yourself a feminist?"
"I do," Palin answered. "I'm a feminist who believes in equal rights and I believe that women certainly today have every opportunity that a man has to succeed, and to try to do it all, anyway."
In that sit-down, Palin told Couric she defines a feminist as "someone who believes in equal rights. Someone who would not stand for oppression against women."

would this be the same unlabeling when she declared that their were people in America from bigger cities that were less patriotic.

Sarah Palin Rewarded Campaign Contributors
As governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin appointed high-paying campaign contributors to key administrative posts – and without any apparent regard to qualifications.
The report originates from a Los Angeles Times investigation. This is seen as a further degeneration of the Republican vice-presidential candidacy in America. Senator McCain and Governor Palin's platform has been to not engage in such practices. The 100 posts in question represents ¼ of her administrative appointees.

if you don't like a socialist Michael why did you support Bush big government?
I don't see this as changing her stance. I fully understand a woman FEELING like a feminist but not LABELING herself. No biggee.
Rape kits are part of the police investigation tools the same as any other tool the police use for investigating a crime. Palin should have made sure their was money available instead of wasting it on her own personal needs.
Any word coming out of the GOP is a scam word.
Palin in plain English tried to make crime victims pay for tools that prove a crime was committed and you call that good leadership?
Now Palin is all for funding special needs kids since she has had one of her own, maybe she should look to a charity for her needs so the public will not be over taxed.
"Socialism" is the new Evil Thing the right-wingers are warning about because they have absolutely nothing positive to say about their own candidate and so must do anything and everything to divert attention from him. And this is even when their own candidate backs corporate welfare which is corporate SOCIALISM, just like Jack said!
And so when the right-wing media tells its tools, "Socialism! Socialism! Socialism!" their tools go around saying, "Socialism! Socialism! Socialism!" Oh yeah--and "Bill Ayers!" and "Jeremiah Wright!" Michael did a good job for them. A+ for you, Michael.
The US form for socialism got its biggest feed at the hog barrel after deregulation and tax shelters, paid for by the average taxpayer.
Currently, the average taxpayer in America earns far less than several years ago, and with adjustment for inflation, the average worker in America is economically worse off now than in 1947, when these statistics first began to be factored.... and until this scheme collapsed recently, multinationals have never enjoyed such wealth accumulation since the 1960's.
Then came the biggest welfare package of history... just so the G8 and IMF can for a little while stay solvent.
Socialism - albeit a very odd redistribution of wealth - is already a fact of life in America...
Your republican neocon wants to give the corporate thieves more breaks as a reward for their destroying our economy by pocketing our tax money and outsourcing even more jobs.
You people really need to stop following party lines and look at what you support, its not free thinking American at all.
When will McCain tell us where the money will come from for all his tax-cuts and all his new programs? I have NOT yet heard specifics? Can someone answer this, WITOUT saying anything negative about Obama? Is that possible?
Sarah Palin, the anti-feminist, has a now huge concern for taking care of kids with special needs in our society. Unfortunately, the Republicans (Ronald Reagan) cut a lot of those programs when he became president. I am curious to find out if Sarah Palin will really do something about this neglected group of people in our society? She is definitely promising a lot.
A good read: http://autisminsights.today.com/category/controversy/sarah-palin/
Obama is spending money we don't have..he's printing money and selling bonds to China. Someday the Chinese will run our government. And Obama didn't say where his money was going to come from. He said he promises an education from a good school to evlery kid..tell me how that is possible...All he did was lie to the American people and the democrats are dumb enough to believe it.
Did he learn that from Bush or Reagan, Michael?
The national debt has quadrupled since Obama has become president, and you can't blame that on Bush. And vacationing in Paris and having date nights in New York doesn't help save taxpayers money. Or do you not pay taxes like most democrats??
Bent these strict party followers only see what they want to see and not what is real. They support McCain knowing he has nothing going for him and no plan to help fix the mess he helped create by taking all the controls off his corporate friends. McCain has spent a lot of time and money trying to make Obama look like a terrorist, a non American and socialist instead of campaigning on the issues we need to hear about.
McCain would keep us in never ending war in the Middle East and suck up to Jewish hardliners just to keep the flow of weapons moving for his corporate crony friends. McCain's raving at a seconds notice shows he does not have the ability to be a diplomat to our foreign neighbors and allies. McCain showed his ability to lead when he raved to send troops against Russia because they protected their peace keeping troops when attacked.
McCain would use his childish attitude to run the country just like his failure at Navy flight school. McCain had his father to bailout his poor judgement in the Navy but he does not have that option in the presidents office.
Michael Bush give your money to the rich and shameless.
Jack,
If you mean tax cuts, because I work hard and it's nice to know im being rewarded. I know a lot of people that don't work and they feel entitled to every social program out there. And how do you explain how the national debt has quadrupled since Obama becoming president?? You can't blame everything on Bush..
Michael you continue to talk in circles. What tax cuts are you referring to? The wealthy have not paid taxes since Reagan and his give away of our money to corporate hacks as welfare.
I don't remember any tax cuts to working class people.
Bush still holds the world record for the biggest debt in history.
Michael I do not pretend to like Obama and his cronyism with corporate hacks any more than I did with Bush.
I do not follow parties or the politically correct that refuse to see what is going on in front of their eyes.
I do not support either side, all I support is my constitution.
You're clueless..unemployment has gone up, mortgage rates, inflation. Come back a year from now, and see how your Obama is doing, and see how the economy is then.
Clueless? You ditto heads are the ones that supported Bush and selling our jobs to communist countries and cheered his record deficit and big government.
The economy will be completely gone by then Michael. Obama is not mine, MINE is my constitution not GOP or democrat like you clueless politically correct that are at fault for following party propaganda.
So, what is the point you're trying to make here? That Obama's spending is good for the country? Do you have a solution to the economy if you're not a supporter of either side.
And Bush had the record for the biggest debt in history, but now Obama holds that record.. Get your facts straight, instead of just blaming everything on Bush.
My point is you politically correct on both sides are a detriment to free thinking Michael. Instead of coming together without blinders on you drive on each other with politically correct propaganda that is destroying the country.
Bush, Obama, Cheney, or any other politician does not define the American government, we have a constitution that does that job.
