Last night my son stopped by my house. He is a junior in college. He has been spending his summer break, fall break volunteering in various homeless shelters and it has changed his perspective on material things.
He has decided to see how long he can go without spending any money.
He has spent $25.00 since July. This expense was for necessary items for college. He has not had to fill his tank since August. His goal is to not spend any more money for the rest of the year.
I am sure he will do it. He lives in a dorm so food and housing is covered which helps with his goal. He has a car with no payment, no credit cards. His car does need a new muffler, but he wants to wait. He drives a 1996 Honda with 190,000 miles on it and loves it.
He is not doing this alone--several of his friends are doing the same thing.
