Rachel Maddow- love, hate, indifferent?

Rachel Maddow, new rock star of MSNBC, spinoff of Keith Olberman. Sometimes snide, often sarcastic, never tolerant of McCain, Palin, or of course Bush. A few odd tidbits about Rachel. She is in her mid thirties, she is a former Rhodes Scholar, a former anti-AIDS activist, a current lesbian, not that it matters.

Comparing her to Olberman, actually I think she may be brighter and a better journalist. She is definitely equally partisan, so if you watch Fox you hate her. But really, some of her material writes itself. Like for example Karl Rove explaining the stock market gyrations this week as an indication that Wall Street does not trust Obama. Couldn't have anything to do with the mortgage mess and the credit freeze, oh no......

Taking the long view, I wonder if ayone will want to be a Maddow show watcher 13 days from now. I mean of course assuming that Obama would win, which of course is a big assumption. It happens to be an assumption that I do not make myself. Then again what would happen to fox if McCain were to win? Oh heck with it, the partisan sniiping has to end somewhere, right? Nope, not really, November 6 could be the FIRST day of the 2012 campaign for whichever political party loses.

Actually I do thnk that we will take a brief hiatus from politics. Sheer Exhaustion will guarantee that, taking her ratings down to a handful for a few days. After that, time will tell.

I'm an avid Fox watcher and still find I need to take a few days off from politics every now and then. This campaign has been a bitter fought one. What ever happened to Tucker Carlson, I really liked him?

I've only seen her show a few times but she has some zingers that she puts out there that make me laugh.

Rachel is great and if the dems screw up she will be on them likes stink on a repugnicon.

I like her show even if she does go overboard at times. It is about time a woman got her own show on a cable network.

Even intelligent people that want to be informed of whats going on on both sides of the fence can be idiots too ya know! You have to get the opposite view point somewhere. It sure isn't on any of the other networks.

With Fox always bashing liberals and Dems, it was refreshing to find MSNBC's Keith Olberman and now Racheal Maddow who do the same on the other side. I agree with Seaweed, you gotta get the views from both sides to be fair and balanced.

Rachel is wonderful...smart and nice. I love the way she delivers the stories, with the fun, sarcasm and playfulness that some take offense with. It's what makes her different and a total joy to watch. While she's admittedly non-partisan, she'll also call out the democrats for being stupid. She has landed an appreciative audience and she has more interests than just politics so her show will be just fine Nov. 5th and beyond.

chevygirl, I would tend to agree that she has a future. She is bright enough to find something else to talk about the day after the election.

actually i suppose politics will not suddenly stop existing nov 5 either. I probably overstated that notion.

When I first heard Rachel on the radio....I think right around the last election, her intelligence lept out of the speaker. I asked myself, who is that woman??? She has a fantastic mind (and the education to take advantage of it). Her presence on tv is a much welcome addition to the cable news echo chamber. Also, I appreciate very much the diverse talking heads on her show....nice to see women, etc. Also, her interviews and commentary are not rant-like....a bit sardonic at tunes, but witty and always insightful.

yes Ed, I think she may be at her best when she is interviewing someone. Her questions seem to always cut to the bottom line.

I am not a liberal, but a left wing radical. While I agree with many of Rachel Maddow's ideas, I find her presentation cloying and immature. Her interview with Senator Obama reminded me of a starstruck teenager talking to a pop star. Her cutsey comments frequently come at the expense of intelligent discourse. Watching Rachel makes me yearn for the days of a truly intelligent and articulate liberal, Phil Donahue. The constant repetition of anonymous allegations against Sarah Palin is a waste of time when the nation has serious issues to discuss. Stop giggling Rachel and start thinking about how clever you can be. Instead try having a serious discussion of issues.

She’s a Female version of Keith Oblerman.. I can’t stand her. GRRRR!

My favourite memory was when Alex Jones bull-horned her on live tv!
